The more I watch football, the more goalkeepers catching the ball then dropping to their knees like they’ve just saved the hardest shot in the world is annoying me. One for IFAB and the referee world to sort out!!
End of season awards for the kids U11 football team; every kid got a plain t-shirt and a sharpie and the chance to write strengths and things they value about their teammates on, which they get to keep. Far better than a trophy just for turning up!

As you start to think about what pre-season training might be for youth football and rugby, please have a read of this first... linkedin.com/feed/update/ur…
Just found this end of month report I did for an U10 Academy player. This lad has gone on to play 150 Premier League games yet was middle of the group without any real standout attributes at that age. Talent identification is never linear or easy... #TalentID

Interesting watching the goalkeepers now trying to tactically break the routine of the penalty taker that slows their run and watches them. Stand still as long as you can, don’t show your hand!! The GK that moves early makes it too easy now.
Nice evening to get back to coaching after the Christmas break…!!

Good to see the school has broken tradition and asked one of the dad’s to draw the front cover for the carol service programme this year… (Nick, 48)

One of the greatest episodes of The A’ Team was on tonight. When collaborations of athletes were new and incredible!!!

Great to watch my son playing rugby this morning, dodging and weaving, as part of a joint training session with another club. They trained together for an hour, mixed all kids into different teams, and played a variety of games. An approach I think other sports could learn from!
Never understand why commentators say “the 4G pitch is a leveller” in the Tamworth (non-league) v Huddersfield FA Cup game. They don’t play on an ice rink! Pretty sure the Huddersfield lads will have seen one of these before and certainly played regularly on one!
Not sure why the set piece coach at Premier League games has to get off the bench to be on the touchline every time there is one. Saw this at U23 level as well. Just let the players deal with it and execute.
