Tells you where Google's priorities are that they will constantly auto-pause your youtube playlist with an "Are you still watching?" dialog, but will happily let one of those deranged 2 hour ads play the entire way through if you forget about it in some background tab
I think these days it's more important than ever to be able to tell whether you're improving without having a number that you can watch go up. Not all progress is quantifiable, and misinterpretation of data often leads people in the wrong direction.
A slide from one of the new videos I'm working on, I've experienced some *minor* frustration recently:

People give numerous reasons for the explosion in frontend web frameworks, but as a long time industry insider, the honest truth is that building 10,000 dropdowns just gets boring after a while, so we invent new tech to entertain ourselves. It's BDD (boredom driven development)
Funny how some things are inconsequential enough you never manage to memorise them even after using them 1000 times. I still often end up getting the a - b the wrong way round in sort algorithms and just flip it after observing the results.
