Next Gen High School Internship Program

The amazing Ajanay Butts graduated as salutatorian from Kell High School where she also won the @ajc cup for her school. Ajanay will be attending @RiceUniversity where she has been awarded the Trustee Merit Scholarship. Congratulations, Ajanay!

Girl boss alert! Meron Lema has graduated from @ChambleeHigh, and she is headed to @Tulane in the fall where she will study Neuroscience. If you have ever met Meron, you know she will conquer the world! Congrats, Meron!

Epherata Zeleke graduated as valedictorian from Tucker HS. She loved us so much that she is coming to @EmoryUniversity in the fall! She was selected as a Woodruff-MLK Scholar. We are so proud of you Epherata, and we can't wait to see you around campus changing the world!

We are so happy for Leah Pilo-Pais! She is graduating from North Gwinnett High School, and she will be attending the University of Georgia in the fall where she plans to study Genetics! Congrats, Leah! We know you will love Athens! @universityofga

Our favorite Minnesota twin, Layo Ogunleye, is graduating from @ChamplinParkHS. She will be attending Washington University in St. Louis where she will be pre-med. We are so excited for you, Layo! Congrats! @WUSTL

Mia Burns was part of @next_gen_emory 2022, and she is graduating from Lakeside High School. She will be attending @SpelmanCollege with an Academic Merit Scholarship, and she plans to complete a Dual Degree in Engineering (Biology and Biomedical Engineering) Congrats, Mia!

Next up, is the multi-talented Jordan Hale. Jordan is graduating from Brookwood High School, and she will be attending @GeorgiaTech in the fall. She plans to major in Biology on the pre-med track. Great work, Jordan!

The amazing Aden Gebregergs is up next for our @next_gen_emory 2024 graduates... Aden is graduating from Tucker High School, and she will be attending the @universityofga to study Genetics! Congrats, Aden!🧬🧬🧬

Our next graduate we are celebrating is Zahra Claxton-Warner. Zahra is graduating from Dekalb of the Arts, and she will continue her education with us here at @EmoryUniversity! Zahra plans to major in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology. Congrats, Zahra, and we'll see you soon!

We are so excited for Oswin Cervantes (see last picture)! Oswin is graduating from Paul Duke STEM High School. He is a @QuestBridge Scholar, and he will be attending @MIT where he plans to major in in Physics. Congratulations, Oswin!

Tristan Salamanca... So much energy and determination in one individual! Tristan is graduating from @westlakelions. He will be attending @UNC as a @CSS_UNC. His intended major is Neuroscience and Biochemistry on a Pre-Med Track. Great work, Sunshine!

Today's grad highlight is our favorite videographer: Randolph Douge'! Randolph is graduating from @hchsbeardown. He will attend @caltechedu in the fall for Mechanical Eng. You only have to meet him (or see his videos!) to know he will do amazing things! Great work, Randolph!

Up next for the Next Gen 2023 graduates is the amazing Jayson Ndungu. Jayson is graduating from the Gwinnett School of Mathematics Science and Technology @We_Are_GSMST. He is headed to @GeorgiaTech to study Computer Engineering as a Clark Scholar. Great job, Jayson!

Alexandria Jessie is a student from our @next_gen_emory 2023 class, and she will soon be graduating from @schsmagnet. She has been awarded a full scholarship to @Tulane University where she plans to major in Finance on the pre-med track. Congrats, Alex!

The Next Gen biomedical research internship program @EmoryMedicine celebrated its largest class this year. The program began in 2022 and works to diversify STEM fields by providing hands-on internships for area teens. links.emory.edu/GP #stemeducation

Our interns were able to tour @GeorgiaTech this week. This is definitely a favorite for a lot of our interns this year!

Our second campus tour of the year was at @EmoryUniversity. The weather didn't really cooperate, but we learned a lot from our tour guides and Timothy Fields (@TFIELDS013), Senior Associate Dean of Admissions and author of The Black Family's Guide to College Admissions.
