The global switch to renewable energy has passed a “positive tipping point” In 2024, 74% of new electricity generated & 92.5% of new capacity were from WindWaterSolar; 17 mil EVs sold 3 cheapest electricity sources globally: onshore wind, PV, hydro apnews.com/article/climat…
In 2025 so far (Jan 1-July 21), fossil gas has met only 22% of California demand (down from 28% in 2024 and 37% in 2023). In 2025, WindWaterSolar has met 57.3% of demand (up from 53.4% in 2024 and 49.0% in 2023). California will be 100% WWS by 2030-2035.

21% less fossil gas used in CA so far in 2025 than in 2024 & 40% less than in 2023 Demand also down 0.6% v 2024 & 0.8% v 2023 So much for claims that 1) We need more fossils to meet increase in demand due to AI 2) Grid can't stay stable unless we use unleash more fossils

This is a great episode. Two questions after watching this: Where can I find a report showing the results of Mark's Canadian modeling? Do you have interviews from Canadian economists on how to grow Canada's wind industry?
Saturday July 19 was the 155th of 200 days in 2025 with >100% WindWaterSolar on the California ISO grid for part of the day (averaging 4.7 hours per day). 57.2% of all demand met in 2025 has been met with WWS

Excellent @mzjacobson “Are Renewables Enough?” Only 2 actions matter (1) doing the math (2) acting on the math. Climate denialists refuse the former and doomers refuse the latter. Both are, essentially, useless people now. Don’t be a useless person. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ine…

Exciting News: On Tuesday, I'm interviewing Mark Z Jacobson, director of Stanford University's renowned Atmosphere/Energy Program. We'll be talking about his team's plan for Canada to run on 100% wind, solar, and water energy. I'll post it here in the afternoon. @mzjacobson
100% Renewable Canada: Mark Jacobson’s Wind, Water, Solar Master Plan @mzjacobson explains his team's plan for Canada to be powered by nothing but clean energy. Second interview of three. Watch for the last one Friday. @MarkJCarney #cdnpoli youtu.be/gAScTJDZLIU

Similarly, states should support EVs and stop promoting the use of combustion-engine vehicles through subsidies and the tax code.
California and other states should similarly tax oil, gas, & coal to make them pay for the health, climate, and land destruction they cause and go through tax codes to eliminate any benefits these fuels receive.
