Today’s vote will have long-term implications on Ukraine’s path to the European Union. It’s a U-turn from Ukraine’s fight against corruption that’s sending shivers down the spine to everyone who have been trying to build Ukraine’s bright and just future.
Seriously concerned over today’s vote in the Rada. The dismantling of key safeguards protecting NABU’s independence is a serious step back. Independent bodies like NABU & SAPO, are essential for 🇺🇦’s EU path. Rule of Law remains in the very center of EU accession negotiations.
Fun fact: There were more protesters at a rally in support of the anti-corruption institutions today than on the first day of the Euromaidan back in 2013.
Today’s shocking bill, which tried to overturn an important anticorruption reform, had the stench of something done in a panic. I understand the immediate trigger may have been activation of investigations into the dealings of presidential-office insiders. economist.com/europe/2025/07…
Thread: What We Know About the NABU Scandal. Ukrainian Parliament passed Bill №12414 (263-13) on July 22, 2025, threatening NABU & SAPO's independence. The bill is sparking protests.
Kyiv today. Thousands protest against the annihilation of anti-corruption institutions, demand that president Zelensky vetoes the bill. Video via @dkaleniuk facebook.com/share/v/16j5Wi…
Right now, Ukraine’s leadership is trying to take away independence of anti-corruption investigations. If this is allowed to pass, President Zelensky will be personally responsible for dismantling a hard-won pillar of Ukrainian democracy. It’s shocking and inexcusable.
Had a chat with the wonderful Ukrainecast about how it was to ask President Trump questions on Ukraine in The Hague and in the Oval Office.
#Ukrainecast - BBC Ukrainian’s Myroslava Petsa went viral after President Trump asked her questions at a NATO press conference Myroslava describes what it’s like to cover the conflict while her husband fights for Ukraine With @VitalyBBC & me bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0…
Shared with Lucy Hockings what it was like to ask POTUS about a possibility to sell the Patriot air defence systems to Ukraine. youtu.be/j8bVg4EMwrY?si…

Donald Trump’s dialogue with @myroslavapetsa: — Is the US ready to sell Patriots to Ukraine? — Are you living in Ukraine? — My husband is there. — Is your husband a soldier? — Yes. — Wow. That’s tough. … We're going to see if we can make some Patriot missiles available.
In Kyiv, a part of a residential building just "folded up" from being hit by russian weapons.... 75 injured and 15 dead in Kyiv I pray for the rescue of the injured from under the rubble, there are still people there!
Currently, Ukraine acts as the greatest defender of the Eastern Flank of NATO without even being a member.
Glad to attend, in #Vilnius, the #B9 Summit, representing the voice of the Eastern Flank. We are committed to bring our contribution from the Baltic to the #BlackSea.
Unlike, say, last Saturday, when they launched a mere 298 drones, 9 ballistic missiles, 55 Kalibr cruise missiles, one X-22 and 5 X-59 missiles at various cities all over Ukraine. 🥰
Moscow will respond by targeting major Ukrainian cities with all that it got
Sergiy Kyslytsya, former UN envoy and top member of Ukrainian delegation at Istanbul talks, can’t hide his joy. It took Ukraine 61 days to go from ‘You don’t hold the cards’ to destroying one third of Russia’s strategic aviation in a series of brazen drone attacks.
The King of Drones…
Following up on the meeting in Turkiye on May 16, the world expected the Russian side to formulate and deliver to Ukraine and its partners a “memorandum” outlining their vision for steps toward a ceasefire. Unfortunately, the Russian side attempted to delay this process. But…
Putin is showing the world tonight that he clearly wants peace. That’s why he started the war in the first place, obviously.
Kyiv. Russian drone attack continues. Eight people injured. Several residential buildings hit by debris. Air defense at work constantly. Loud explosions heard in the city. No sleep for us.
The Russian delegation in Istanbul made sure they came with peace. Former Ukraine’s UN envoy who was present at the talks subtly confirms Medinsky’s blackmail.
There was a chilling moment when the Russians are reported to have threatened their interlocutors like gangsters. "Maybe some of those sitting here at this table will lose more of their loved ones," Mednisky said. Russia is prepared to fight forever. news.sky.com/story/how-puti…
Worth remembering: Medinsky was born in Ukraine. In Smila, Cherkasy oblast, to be precise. In Ukraine’s heartland. Let’s not forget, Dmitriev was born in Kyiv. Another reason why Putin believes there’s no such nation as Ukrainians.
And another quote attributed to Medinsky: “Maybe some of those sitting here at this table will lose more of their loved ones. Russia is prepared to fight forever.”
I have just heard President Trump's statement. Very important words. I supported @POTUS idea of a full and unconditional ceasefire — long enough to provide the foundation for diplomacy. And we want it, we are ready to uphold silence on our end. I supported President Trump…
Even the Prime Minister of New Zealand gets it. As President Trump has repeatedly said, stop the killing!! An unconditional 30 day ceasefire first and, during it, move into comprehensive peace discussions. Not the other way around.
New Zealand stands with our partners around the world in supporting a just and lasting peace in Ukraine – starting with a full and unconditional 30-day ceasefire. Tonight, I joined President @ZelenskyyUa, Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer, President @EmmanuelMacron, and other world…
