With more people succumbing every day, Israel must end its siege immediately. Every truck matters. Every calorie counts. But opening the gates is only the beginning: only a ceasefire can alleviate the humanitarian catastrophe engulfing Gaza.

I am delighted to publish my opinion article ✍🏼 for @POLITICOEurope 📰 on the EU anti-corruption directive. It examines how the EU appears indifferent to combatting corruption within the bloc, while taking moral high ground in candidate states. More ⬇️ politico.eu/article/eu-ant…
Two worlds: 🇺🇦 Ukraine: Over 70 visits by world leaders / ministers since Feb 2022 — and rightly so. 🇵🇸 Gaza: Zero visits by any sitting head of state / minister since Oct 2023 — despite mass suffering. Both deserve humanity. #DoubleStandards
“the fable of the boy who cried wolf has an important moral which is not that wolves don't exist and will never attack anyone. Rather, it is precisely because wolves do exist and will eventually attack that makes it so important to not cry wolf.”
Folks, I need to inform you that there is very concerning data regarding the food situation in Gaza. Firstly, let me just that that as someone who supports Israel I anticipate many on my side will be skeptical of this and I totally understand why. Throughout the war you have…
Instagram today is what TV was for boomers. Our grandparents used to yell at the screen and we thought they were a bit crazy. Now we stare at reels after work and talk back by sending them to friends without their permission. Aliens would nuke us on sight.
In which situations should a state prosecute its residents for speech outside its borders? (Hint: “when they say things I hate” is the wrong answer.)

I wrote this piece provoked by @ATabarrok's recent post recalling the post-Sputnik national call to action. Nowhere in today's culture, education, or politics are young people encouraged to imagine new worlds. Mostly I see calls to "correct" and "police" the current world. We see…
The barbarism isn't in the suicide, it's in the targeting of civilians. We intuitively know this, and celebrate people sacrificing themselves in a right cause. E.g. in pop culture, the astronauts who blow themselves up in Deep Impact.
The issue isn’t “condemning,” but acting, with speed and force, against the barbarism of the suicide bomber. I don’t particularly care whether the sociologists pursue their (largely fruitless) studies of “root causes,” so long as their studies are irrelevant to public policy.
30 years ago yesterday Serb forces under Ratko Mladić took the UN safe area of Srebrenica. The next day, 12 July, realizing how many Bosniak men were in his custody, Mladić decided to kill them all. The main killing operations began on 13 July.

11. Jula u Beogradu osvanuo kamen spomenik zrtvama genocida u Srebrenici. Naspram platna sa porukom Ljudi pamte ljude.
What should States do in response to the US administration sanctions against @FranceskAlbs, the ICC Prosecutor and Judges? Publicly condemn the use of sanctions to undermine the ICC and express strong, unconditional commitment to the ICC and its critical global mandate; to the…
I am headed to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Kosovo following productive conversations in Dayton and Washington. It is an important anniversary and pivotal time in the Western Balkans. I look forward to reinforcing ties between the U.S. and countries in the region.
