I am deeply shocked and saddened by the assassination of Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband. Her contributions to our state and dedication to public service will be profoundly missed. My thoughts are with their family and all impacted by this tragedy. 💔

Today has indeed been challenging. The loss of Senator Kari Dziedzic, who was both a friend and colleague, is deeply felt. My condolences go out to her family and our district during this difficult time.
