Must-read piece from @DrSamuelGregg about how Leo XIII's most important encyclical, Aeterni Patris, informs his most well-known encyclical, Rerum Novarum. nationalreview.com/2025/05/a-new-…
🔥New episode dropped. Conclaves are mysterious, sacred, and globally significant. They're also very misunderstood. @DanHugger unpacks it with @DrJohnPinheiro and @mmathesonmiller on the Acton Line podcast. Check it. ⬇️ acton.org/audio/all-thin…
Yes. As you know, and as @mmathesonmiller tells me every day at the water cooler, read @AugustoDelNoce on this point!
Quoted in @mmathesonmiller and @DrJohnPinheiro's excellent obituary of Pope Francis. The context is Francis' warnings about "ideological colonization" harming families in the developing world via the exportation of Western (materialist, relativist) values.
Thanks @EuroConMag for re-running obituary essay about Pope Francis I wrote with @mmathesonmiller for @ActonInstitute’s Religion & Liberty Online. europeanconservative.com/articles/comme…

An excellent essay by @mmathesonmiller 👇
The Christian vision of linear, covenantal time has shaped the West. It's counterfeits have wreaked havoc. When we lose Christian theology, but retain linear time, we open the door to utopianism. themoralimagination.com/p/a-christian-…
After he won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1957, Albert Camus wrote a letter of thanks to his favorite childhood teacher, whom he'd never forgotten. It's beautiful.
Exactly @McCormickProf and @_CLancellotti As C.S. Lewis wrote in Abolition of Man: "Man's power over Nature turns out to be a power exercised by some men over other men with Nature as its instrument."
This is true. Human beings are persons, not property. They aren't the kind of entity that can be owned. A human being can't be owned by the state. He or she can't be owned by another human being. He or she can't be owned by himself or herself. All sound morality recognizes this.
Really great essay by @mmathesonmiller To summarize the greatest antidote to consumerism is the transcendence. “Man needs transcendence” - Pope Benedict XVI Michael’s 6 ways to combat consumerism are excellent. themoralimagination.com/p/six-ways-to-…

The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill is an affront to human life. Please continue to write to your MP and urge them to oppose this dangerous Bill, which seeks to lead us into darkness. In these moments of darkness, turn to the Lord Jesus who is the light of the world.
Pope Francis stressed the freedom and dignity of person - the plight of the poor, the threat of “ideological colonialism,” and dignity of the human person connected to the natural environment. May he Rest in Peace rlo.acton.org/archives/12670…
A fitting thought from Pope Francis' final Urbi et Orbi message
Eternal Rest grant unto him O Lord. May Holy Father Francis Rest in Peace. rlo.acton.org/archives/12670…
At 9:45 AM, Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Camerlengo of the Apostolic Chamber, announced the death of Pope Francis from the Casa Santa Marta with these words: "Dearest brothers and sisters, with deep sorrow I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francis. At 7:35 this morning,…
What is progress for? Why is progress better than no progress? Benedict XVI notes in Spe Salvi, while progress is good, it is not an end in itself. And as C.S. Lewis argued progress is not going forward if you are going in the wrong direction themoralimagination.com/p/a-christian-…

"A profound influence on Western political, economic, and cultural development and the idea of progress is the concept of linear time. The idea that time is linear — that it has a beginning and is going somewhere may seem obvious, but the idea of time as linear is a unique aspect…
