And just like that, we're out of Pandemic Time and back in Mass Shooting time.
(I think it's also significant that, unless I'm missing something, we didn't have a big-deal mass shooting in the US in the last 2 years. Yes there were "lockdowns" but nobody snapped and shot up a school or church in a way that it became The Story for a month)

This is a problem-solving technique that people will like apply to their jobs but not life-and-death political questions. When the solution isn't apparent, expand the problem.
It's only senseless because the explanation that would make it all make sense is too terrible for most people to accept.
