Our thoughts are with our @CTGuild siblings who are once again falling prey to the vultures at Alden Global Capital.
Today, @chicagotribune laid off five guild staff members in a roughly 10% cut to our newsroom. These layoffs underscore a sad but unsurprising failure of leadership by Alden Global Capital, our hedge fund owner, and local management.
Feeling for our brothers and sisters at @CTGuild today, particularly the five who did not deserve to lose their jobs, but all the others as well. Hang tough in difficult times.
We at @CTGuild are devastated today by the company's unexplained, unnecessary, disrespectful and stupid decision to lay off five guild colleagues. The only reason is greed. These brilliant people deserve so much better than better. Chicago deserves better too.
