Matt Rhule is also heaping praise on former AD Trev Alberts for showing him what Nebraska could become after a tune-up. This is quite a response from Rhule on this topic. An incredibly gracious and appreciative approach from the third-year coach. A master class in positivity.
Penn State coach James Franklin, whose team was picked in the preseason poll to win the Big Ten: "Who really cares about preseason rankings? They mean nothing." Also, Franklin is saying hello to everyone who asks a question of him. Very polite.
Big Ten coaches out of context: Oregon coach Dan Lanning says his players have gained 1,300 pounds this offseason. (To be clear, that's a good thing.)
When discussing his schedule, Wisconsin's Luke Fickell said, "This isn't the Big Ten West anyone." Wisconsin was 2-3 vs. the old Big Ten West last year: Beat Purdue 52-6 Beat Northwestern 23-3 Lost to Iowa 42-10 Lost to Minnesota 24-7 Lost to Nebraska 44-25 DNP Illinois (10-3)
Luke Fickell on Wisconsin's schedule: "Like I've said to our guys in the past, 'This isn't the Big Ten West anymore.'" The Badgers play Maryland, at Michigan, Iowa, Ohio State, at Oregon, Washington, at Indiana, Illinois and at Minnesota in Big Ten play (in addition to a road…
Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell: "I’m not here to dwell upon last year." The Badgers lost five consecutive games to end 2024 at 5-7. "We (have) to get back to what has and what will continue to make Wisconsin an unbelievable place."
We have entered peak PJ Fleck territory. He gave a 13-minute opening statement. Time for one question from the media.
Shout out from Minnesota coach PJ Fleck to Howard, his favorite waiter at Prime Steakhouse at the Bellagio. Fleck and the Gophers will be visiting Howard tonight.

Nebraska QB Dylan Raiola faces the Big Ten media in Las Vegas.

With Matt Rhule in charge at Nebraska, he said, he wants Scott Frost to know that he can always come home and feel welcomed.
On the "wrong job" comment that Scott Frost made at Big Ten media days, Rhule said he felt the similarly about his time with the Panthers after he left the NFL. "It's the right job for me... This is a good job. It's about to be one of the best jobs in the country."
Matt Rhule on Scott Frost and his comments last week: "I have a ton of respect for Scott. And I've always been very empathetic for what he went through because this was his home." Rhule said Nebraska placed a large photo of Frost as a player in its facility this offseason.
Updating Nebraska's injuries from the spring that left the offensive line in a disjointed state: Teddy Prochazka and Gunnar Gottula are full go for camp next week. Turner Corcoran still needs some time.
Where has Nebraska QB Dylan Raiola grown the most from his first year to the cusp of beginning his second? "A lot of guys want to shoot a lot of shots, but they don’t want to take the shot at the buzzer," Matt Rhule says. "He wants to take the shot at the buzzer."
Interesting note from Matt Rhule: Students in the program made a "Chasing 3" movie about all of last season for Nebraska. It did not see the light of day. "Home movies are home movies."
Nebraska coach Matt Rhule, now at a side podium in Las Vegas, backs Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti in wanting more auto qualifiers for the CFP. "I look at NFL as the model and try to extrapolate it back to college." Rhule says he would rather watch Ole Miss-Alabama in a…
Nebraska coach Matt Rhule: "I look forward to the first close game. I look forward to seeing our guys execute in it."
Matt Rhule on his comfort level ahead of the preseason with first-year coordinators Dana Holgorsen, John Butler and Mike Ekeler: "There’s some days I walk in and I don’t know what my job is."
