aerospace eng @georgiatech | building a UAV in a frat house
1 month ago, I told everyone I was going to build a UAV in my frat house dorm. This thread is to keep track of major updates for v0. Here’s my progress so far: 🧵
I’m building a 3D printed commercial UAV: A small, autonomous, fixed-wing/VTOL hybrid made to capture useful data across industries such as agriculture, mining, infrastructure, etc. Pretty much all drones in this class are made in China and/or cost over $20k.
They’re gonna pay us to wear smart glasses and send them vision data to train generalist robots. Calling it now. By they I mean the next $XXbillion dollar startup. Or Meta.

Who needs a $2k test stand @RainingSchultz
Yeah we’re gonna need a bigger prop
Little bit of pulse width modulation on this fine Friday evening ☕️
Looking for drone electronics resources. Any good yt channels, books, or guides?

We better figure out how to build drones at scale fast or we are doomed to be a vassal state, as you posted
> buy carbon fibers tubes off amazon > realize it’s an American company (W) > realize they’re actually just made in China > realize we need more raw materials + manufacturing startups or we’re cooked
