I can't remember whether Gregor Robertson was hoping housing prices would go up or down, but this article by respected economist Roz Kunin addresses the pros and cons of lower prices! troymedia.com/viewpoint/fall…
Amid confusion, Vancouver pushes for social housing highrises across the city Almost 1/3 of the city (purple) is being targeted for social-housing highrises, despite concerns they aren't healthy for residents, esp. families #vanre #vanpoli #bcpoli 1/3 vancouversun.com/opinion/column…
A massive report is going to City Council recommending pre-zoning Broadway & Cambie corridors. What impact will this have on property values? Don't ask BC Assessment deputy assessor. He didn't even know a report was going forward to council today. @jwhiteyvr
I must say I initially found this hard to believe. But I will accept it as a fact

No highrises are featured in this cover photo from the city’s 2025 Vancouver social housing engagement summary. That's even while the report promotes gov. buildings up to 20 storeys across the city. @michaelgeller calls it “disingenuous and misleading.” 3/3 #vanpoli #bcpoli

It was a fleeting moment, but we still bring it up.
Rent control is the second-best way to destroy a city, after bombing. And, because of what it leads to in terms of under investment in repairing, maintaining, constructing new apartments, I think this is likely to exacerbate rather than improve issues around housing affordability…
I sure hope Mark Carney and Gregor Robertson read this since it confirms all of my concerns about the Federal Gov'ts housing supply ambitions! nationalpost.com/news/politics/…

For what it's worth, here is an interview in which I try to explain why we still have a housing crisis and what the federal gov't should and shouldn't do. vancouversun.com/business/conve…
