I wrote about abortion - which is still technically a criminal offence - and the two amendments to the Crime and Policing Bill being brought to change this (NC1 and NC20). While change *must* happen, access to abortion is too sensitive to risk; change must be handled with care.

NEW: Zarah Sultana told a meeting of “Trade Unionists for a new party” last night the new left party should be aiming to win “20-25%” of the vote at the next election. But rumours have emerged that she has already been sidelined from leadership with Corbyn taking the reins solo.
Why isn’t Labour nationalising water? The Government is promising a “revolution”. But campaigners don’t believe them. 🖊️ @meganekenyon newstatesman.com/politics/econo…
"However you slice it, the housing crisis is emotionally and financially draining us all." A brilliant piece by @Victoria_Spratt in @newstatesman today on why this government will live or die by housing. newstatesman.com/politics/2025/…
Tongue in cheek suggestion from @willydunn that pensioners should receive an summer cooling allowance. But having polled the idea over the weekend we found a majority would back it with just 1 in 5 opposed. Young people being the most supportive of a pensioner cooling allowance.

A powerful piece by @poppy_sowerby about why it's important not to be flippant about abortion (as Lily Allen was telling listeners to her podcast, "I used to get pregnant all the time"). These are important rights & must not be taken likely - or women risk losing them for good.
Britain seems to be at a high point of reproductive laissez-faire. But the right to choose is not untouchable. @poppy_sowerby👇 buff.ly/HJgnGod
