It is hard to overstate how bad and, frankly, irrelevant the Brewers were from roughly 1993-2007, and I say that as someone who worked there from ‘03-‘06. The trade for CC Sabathia in 2008 completely changed baseball in Milwaukee in ways that reverberate today.

The Brewers should absolutely retire his number. I don’t care that he played less than a full season in Milwaukee. Unquestionably one of the most important players in Brewers franchise history, and arguably one of the top five most important in season acquisitions, ever.
