Ukraine, in the middle of the war, needs no new Maidan or new major internal strive but its society is self-confident enough to signal its discontent when needed. Hopefully, the authorities realize and act accordingly.
Crowds are surging in Kyiv with people protesting against the government’s attacks on the anti-corruption institutions. Signs and Chants range from Ukraine will be saved by the armed forces and institutions and bring back Europe to we are f**** tired of the Office of President.

Damage is done and now the only thing western partners have to do is support the Ukrainian society‘s demand to repeal the scandalous laws to attack top anti-corruption institutions.
⚡️ Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has already signed a bill that effectively eliminates the independence of the anti-corruption agencies @nab_ukr and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, MPs Yaroslav Zheleznyak and Oleksii Honcharenko reported, citing sources.
The measure of last resort is a presidential veto. But let’s be clear: the attacks on civil society, previously also media and now independent anti-corruption institutions are part of an unfortunate pattern. A proper course reversal and policy change is required not just a veto.
❗️MPs adopt with 263 votes the draft law #12414, destroying independence of #NABU & #SAPO. This is a massive setback in anti-corruption reform and direct threat to 🇺🇦's path to the EU! We call on @ZelenskyyUa to veto the destructive changes! Statement👉bit.ly/4m87ApP
If signed by Zelenskyy, this scandalous law will put a stop to the county’s EU ambition‘s and has the potential to trigger mass protests and possibly another Maidan… I‘d even go beyond that and say by turning this route, the leadership risks losing the country and thus the war.
⚡️ BREAKING: Ukraine's parliament passes bill destroying independence of key anti-corruption bodies. The bill was passed with the support of 263 lawmakers, while 13 voted against it and 13 abstained. kyivindependent.com/bill-subordina…
