Maternity: Right to Recover Campaign
@maternityR2R
We are victims of maternity negligence, left psychologically scarred. We are the consequences of a ‘secondary scandal’. We campaign for our ‘Right to Recover’
This research is of vital importance to providing bereaved fathers with the recognition & support they deserve. Thank you Alex & team: so grateful ❤️
This important research project is researching the impact of #stillbirth on fathers in the 1st 12 months. For more information visit this website bit.ly/fathersgriefre…

The non-birthing partner is nothing more than a bystander during pregnancy and childbirth? Thoughts? #birthtrauma #maternity #patientsafety #right2recover #secondaryscandal #fathershealth #mothershealth

This is the heartbreaking inequality the Supreme Court has left us with 💔 #MentalHealth #womensmentalhealth #mum #mums #Maternity #maternitysafety #avoidable #babyloss #harm #neglect #right2recover #litigation #law #injustice #inequality #victim

Maternity safety reviews focus on what wasn’t done. But the real issue is: Why wasn’t it done? Why wasn’t the risk seen? Why didn’t anyone act? These aren’t rare mistakes. They’re signs of a system trained to under-react. #MaternitySafety #NHS @NHSResolution @MidwivesRCM
Thank you @Channel4News for having me back. Talking about health inequalities and baby loss makes people uncomfortable but that silence is why it keeps happening. We need a full, judge-led statutory inquiry. Nothing less will do. For Grace. For every family failed 🤍
Fathers like me who witness the loss of their child due to inadequate maternity care experience a profound and unique kind of harm. We are treated as peripheral, as if our grief, our trauma, our pain doesn’t count. right2recover.org/gary%E2%80%99s…

NHS facing ‘absolutely shocking’ £27bn bill for maternity failings in England. theguardian.com/society/2025/j…
Open & transparent conversations about maternity failings are important if we are to take meaningful action. The previous government had the blueprint but didn't act. Inaction must be a thing of the past. Thank you @DOckendenLtd share.google/8FjrsHs8q2YjYi…
Committee of Public Accounts (2017-2019) “There seems to be a prevailing attitude of defensiveness in the NHS when things go wrong, and a reluctance to admit mistakes, which is likely to be leading to more clinical negligence claims.” Still happening today! @wesstreeting

Failing to learn from avoidable maternity harm deepens the societal harms highlighted by @DOckendenLtd. Our campaign raises the issue of defensive litigation Vs doing what is right by families and the significant detrimental impact this has on society, families & lost careers.
'Ockenden...stressed that the cost of avoidable maternity harm was felt across “mental health, other health services, the economy, the wider community, relationships, whole families and careers”.' So true, @DOckendenLtd theguardian.com/society/2025/j…
We need to reduce the risk of harm in the first place. The high cost of negligence is associated with prolonged litigation “do not admit liability Vs doing what is right for families” and let’s not forget the victims currently being erased by the system. theguardian.com/society/2025/j…
The scandal here is how much money @NHSResolution pay to defend cases at all costs. Why on earth are top legal experts being instructed by the defence at inquests of our avoidably dead babies? What about the victims erased by the 2024 Supreme Court ruling on secondary victims?
“It should be a matter of national shame that we now spend more on maternity litigation than the total cost of running maternity services.” theguardian.com/society/2025/j…
Parents left to endure psychological trauma, lifetime without their baby, overwhelming burden of caring for a child with catastrophic brain injuries. The law should reflect reality and must not draw arbitrary lines and exclude affected parents from protection and accountability

We’re victims of maternity neglect too. Harmed, bereaved, and left psychologically scarred. But our harm and recognition has been erased by injustice and inequality as a consequence of the 2024 Supreme court ruling regarding ‘secondary victims’. #right2recover #maternitysafety

Powerful acknowledgment of the trauma endured by victims of NHS maternity failures & recognition of systemic issues, particularly the tendency of some trusts to prioritise “do not admit liability” over doing what is right for families by @wesstreeting
