Something I'm coming around to: The concept of "enough" also applies to control. The happiest people are not the ones striving to gain more of it, but the people who need less of it.

Excellence thrives in private hands. The incessant growth demands of a public/venture/PE market are long-term incompatible with "do one thing and do it well." They force dilution of function and brand.
Slack is becoming so ran thru. MS Teams is a non-starter. Discord is gamer slop. I just want channels, threads, and DMs. Like nothing else. Why does every product tend towards slop like this?

Soul is the ultimate Turing test for AI. If you have any emotional depth as a person, AI will possess an uncanny valley of soullessness for the foreseeable future. Why? Because we cannot recreate what we can't even accurately describe.

The answer to "why won't x do y" is because the perceived costs do not outweigh the perceived benefits. It's that's simple. If you want x to do y, you have to change the math.
Going forward when people complain “why won’t developers build x” I’ll be quoting this tweet and giving them the respective number of the reforms needed to do so.
A strong indicator of someone's vote is how much they value their agency. If they don't believe they have agency or if they have not realized value from their agency, they are much more likely to give it away. In their view, the system is what matters anyway.
