With bureaucrats drafting new related bills to introduce this fall, isn’t it time to start talking about what’s arguably the most important issue in Alberta this summer: David Yager’s “Mature Asset Strategy”?

Alberta: Remember the #RStarScam ? It apparently died on the vine b/c of perceived public outrage, after the media & opposition belatedly picked up on that grab of citizen $. The (oil & gas) “Mature Asset Strategy” you’re not hearing about makes RStar look like child’s play!

In the US citizens will unfortunately have to pay for the sins of oil and gas. However, in Alberta, Canada we still have laws on the books (for now, largely ignored) that require industry to pay. These laws are under attack by industry as citizens ignorantly slumber.

How would you like to have a dozen or so derelict unsafe well sites on your property while the deadbeat company like this one refuses to compensate you for your losses (hundreds of thousands $) as required by law?

Albertans, do you realize that when delinquent oil companies fail to compensate landowners including little old ladies, your tax dollars are used to subsidize these deadbeats (section 36, Surface Rights Act)❓ Who are you for @ABDanielleSmith? Dead beats or little old ladies❓

I’ve decided to start publicly naming and shaming dead beat oil companies that are in default of their contractual and legislated obligations to compensate landowners for well sites. This outfit takes advantage of little old ladies and wastes my time. bsrl.ca

I worked in and travelled throughout the Libyan desert over decades. So many fascinating things that very few people get to see. This is just one of many examples.

The regulators of oil and gas activities in both jurisdictions, which are the Texas Railroad Commission and the Alberta Energy Regulator (@AER_news), are doing an equally poor job. Lots of “beefs” between abused surface rights owners (landowners) and operators. #AERReform
