High value behaviors (golf edition): - bringing your host a gift and covering their caddy fee - laughing it off after you hit a bad shot - always having tees, ball marks, and a divot tool - gambling for a beer, not money - working on your short game instead of pounding balls -…
The more of Ran Morrissett's work I read, the less seriously I take his opinions. Somerset Hills and Ladera are on here as "Custodians of the Game" but Tree Farm is left out? TTF meets Ran's own criteria better than at least 5 courses on this list, but he clearly has a bias.
A new 147 Custodians is here to highlight the golf courses that uphold the spirit of the game, in the eyes of our own Ran Morrissett. Dive in now ⤵️
No practice swings. I hate watching someone waste 90 seconds with 3 full-speed practice swings before they even start their actual pre-shot routine. Exceptions: - first tee shot of the day - awkward or bad lies - chips and pitch shots
What unpopular opinion about golf do you have that can put you in this position??
Flashback Friday to a perfect 36 hole day at Lake Merced Golf Club, arguably California’s most underrated course. Gil Hanse’s recent work is impeccable, bringing back many of Mackenzie’s original green contours and bunkers that were lost over time, with Gil’s own unique twist.

Me showing my Member-Guest partner how many holes he contributed on (It was 3 holes)

LOTD — didn’t love it at first, but the 🦉has certainly grown on me. Top 5 animal logo.

My 5 favorite courses I have played: 1. Tara Iti (9.5) 2. NGLA (9.4) 3. Royal County Down (9.3) 4. Chicago Golf Club (9.2) 5. Merion (9.2) Full rankings reveal sometime in the future…
Curious to hear everyone’s top 5 courses they’ve played and why? Have at it.
High Grove is at the top of my bucket list of new developments to see in the next 12 months. Apparently built on some of the sandiest soil in Florida.

Open Week Throwback Thursday: A couple of summers ago at Portrush— my favorite links course I've played, other than RCD. Perfectly routed through massive dunes out to the ocean and back. #5 green (1st/2nd pic) is one of the best places to stand on any golf course in the UK.

LOTD— the “CEO’s club” of Chicago. Would be higher ranked if more people got to play it.

Top 10 places I want to see in the USA (excluding PV, Cypress, ANGC): 1. Oakmont 2. Sand Hills 3. Crystal Downs 4. Maidstone 5. Friars Head 6. Wade Hampton 7. Seminole 8. Rock Creek 9. Fall Line 10. Ladera cc: @RevWSJohnson @NOTdaRealGil for starting the trend. nominating:…
When I’m hosting my non ball-knower friend and he shows up wearing Jordan golf shoes and a white belt

This is where I want to see the @ScottishOpen hosted next year.

Had a great time with my boy Webb. Certified ball-knower 🎯

If your boys group chat is talking about at least 4 of these things, you’re in good company: >Being pumped for college football >Taking a high-payoff career risk >8am weekend tee times >Upcoming IPOs >How terrible Zohran Mamdani is >Grok 4 and AGI/superintelligence >Meeting up…
