I'm shortsighted, and for most of my time at school, I loved cricket but was as good as useless. But in the summer of '85, when I was 16, I wore contact lenses for the first time. I carried my wicket for the whole season, averaging more than a run a ball. Haven't dared play since.
This could be an interesting mix of replies. You’re probably a cricket fan if you follow me. But do you play cricket? If not, why not? What’s stopping you? Have you ever played? Particularly interested to hear from fans who have never played or who haven’t played much.
At its absolute pre-1914 North British Railway height, North Leith (Leith Citadel) railway station: underphotographed at the time, a centre of dockyard life, work and traffic, a public house in the station building and so many unanswered questions. flic.kr/p/CMHoZW
What's one building, structure or location that has been demolished that you wish was still around to see, walk through, explore or practice photography in once again? For me, its the Conner Stamping Plant in Detroit, Michigan. You?

Most, probably all of these the work of the incomparable Thomas Annan.
Did you know that @UofGlasgow used to be based in the city centre? For around 400 years the University was based at the Old College Campus just off High Street! Check out these incredible pictures from 1869! Credit: UofG Archives & HIS
These are magnificent. I'd only seen the first of these before.
On July 25th 1857 Roger Fenton, who had founded the Royal Photographic Society in 1853, took several pictures of a cricket match in progress between Hunsdonbury Club and Royal Artillery at Hunsdonbury. These are believed to be the earliest pictures of a cricket game in progress
Four from Sunday: a walk from Newhaven/Trinity to the site of Leith Fort.

And here, those frames animated even though they do not provide fluid motion. This would be impossible at only 5 frames per second. I’ve sped it up to show fluidity still does not work with only six frames to work with. I love that stylised wrought iron park bench. Animation…

Happy Mary Magdalen Day! Magdalen , founded in 1458, was dedicated to St Mary Magdalen, and our name is pronounced "Maudlin" as a reflection of the medieval English pronunciation of her name. #marymagdalenday
This evening, 56 years after the Apollo 11 moon landing, I spoke with the astronaut Buzz Aldrin. Together we shared the memory of a historic feat, a testimony to human ingenuity, and we reflected on the mystery and greatness of Creation.
“Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed.” #Apollo11
July 20, 1969. “Contact light, engine stop.” The Apollo 11 lunar module Eagle touched down at Tranquility Base on the Moon. A few hours later, Neil Armstrong and I stepped foot on the Moon, with Michael Collins orbiting close-by. An achievement resulting from years of…

Do you guys know any books or movies with an unreliable narrator who gets more and more unreliable as the story goes on untill you slowly discover they're actually detached from reality?
