Elland Road, I assume taken from Cottingley Towers, taken between 1971 and 1973. The blue sign of Elland Road just visible with various chimneys of the brick works dotted around.

Ashington born Potts, the Leeds United keeper watering the pitch ahead of the Huddersfield Town game. Leeds United lost 2-1 with Wainscoat scoring the Leeds goal. Potts, the brother-in-law of the Milburn brothers kept goal for Leeds for 262 games.

The new East Stand at Elland Road 1993.

The alleged knocking shop next door to the Waggon and Horses in Holbeck (seems to be the United bar in this picture). Think the building was an old haulers yard and sure there was a hardware store next door till the late 90’s.

William Green, who’s company had the contract for the making of the Leeds City’s ground at Elland Road was found dead in Moortown, September 1913.

Football Association Rules forbid the playing of football on Sundays, Good Friday and Christmas Day. Anybody failing to observe this rule will not be recognised by the Association. Sheffield Daily Telegraph 1929.

The New Peackcok Ground home of the Holbeck Cricket Club, Elland Road, with the Lowfields Stand in the background. The area at time was also popular with rabbit and sparrow hunting. The ground also known as the Islington Cricket Ground.
