By constraining a path between two other animated paths, you can easily achieve intricate animations in #AfterEffects. Take a look at how I implemented this in my latest rig. #MotionGraphics
🚨 Just realized something fun with the Shape Layer Repeater in AE: If you make a fake axis (just 2 points) and link it to the repeater's position, you get rig-like control. Super handy.
Path + Shape Layer Repeater in AE. That’s it. A surprisingly powerful combo. 😮
Rare encounter in After Effects: open path acting like it's closed. Wasn’t expecting that, but kinda into it. 🤔🤔
Another test of path diffraction in After Effects. This time the amplitude is constrained within the mask limits for a fun little effect.
Trying some path diffraction in After Effects driven by distance to the mask 😵💫
Waveform on a path in After Effects—this time with two mask controllers! Combining them is really just about adding their amplitude values.
Another take on making a faux-3D path in After Effects. What still surprises me is that it’s all on a single shape layer.
By simply offsetting the rotation along a path in After Effects, it gives this faux-3D look to the path. 👀👀👀
Another take on the Twisted Rope Effect in After Effects aka a bunch of rotations stacking along a path 😅
Revisiting this old rig, The Twisted Rope Effect. Love to see how path and propertyGroup() make it all wrap around itself inside one shape layer in After Effects.
This one’s about distance to a path in After Effects. Just visualizing how close it is at every point. 👀
Here’s how this rig works: the distance drives the path, and the path drives the size of each layer in After Effects.
A look back at my first test fitting layers on a path in After Effects. In this one, each layer is anchored to a point.
Rather than aligning layers on the points, I noticed that placing them between the points actually gives a neat way to control horizontal constraints in After Effects. 🤯
Testing camera animation in AE using a points() position. Could be fun with pointOnPath() too.
Paths can spring/bounce in After Effects too. A simple way to add a touch of organic vibes.
Focus of the day: Animating paths in After Effects or becoming a yo-yo artist? 🤯
Wow I just tried the new Advanced 3D renderer of After Effects for the first time, it's much faster now. 🤯👏 (These are just shape layers though.)
Line ➝ Circle ➝ Line in After Effects. Both right to left and left to right! Fun exercise with a text layer.
Why do I always forget that After Effects has auto-orient along path?? I keep setting the rotation manually 🤦♂️
