Boru lounge, Shannon airport. Breakfast is a sad and pallid affair – this is pretty much it besides some dry sodabread and a few packets of cheese. Alas No hot food whatsoever.
Boru lounge, Shannon airport. TINY. Besides these two mediocre wine offerings there is a bottle of Bailey's, an Irish vodka called "Dingle"-- and some non- alcoholic gin. Most folks are going straight for the (canned) Guinness.
Heathrow early layover-- 2 lounges available, both windowless caverns. I opted for the Plaza Premium over the No. 1-- slightly bigger and they have pale American pancakes....
United Airlines Polaris lounge EWR – the wine offer doesn't look terrible--there is the bland but classic whispering angel, and an interesting looking Albariño. But it is so so hot that I opted for a spritz.
United Polaris lounge -- EWR! This is their flagship... but the buffet is pretty sparse and uninspired, Spanish inspiration be damned. Besides this – there is the requisite pallid chicken thigh dish, and a pile of gloopy tortellini. And of course – stunningly red charcuterie.
Delta lounge CVG. This is probably the most exotic food item here. I really miss the bartender who used to run around this lounge with a bottle of Baileys at 6 AM offering to "irish up your coffee" I think about 90% took him up on it.
Delta lounge LGA. A surprising number of people are drinking this concoction at 6:30 AM. I am all for a breakfast cocktail, but this one looks lethal. Maybe it's the spiced rum...
LGA Delta sky club terminal C. Besides the usual standard powdered eggs and limp grey sausages – these pancakes are on offer! The bar is open – there may be an extra bloody extra Mary in my future.

Air France lounge CDG -- the food is shockingly dreadful. Besides this particularly lurid salami there are powdery scrambled eggs and limp bacon. Maybe it gets better at the lunch changeover....
Air France lounge CDG. No rosé in sight. Big ice bucket filled with bottles of white wine – but, they are all the same mediocre pouilly fuisse. I finally found this small bar set up in the very back of the lounge and decided to make myself a bloody Mary – but no tomato juice..
Nice airport at the ungodly hour of 4:30 AM. NOTHING is open. No place to get coffee. The only interesting thing is this vending machine that seems to sell Band-Aids and itching cream.
Air France lounge – JFK. The bar here is my favorite kind of bar – totally self serve. The rosé, however, is supremely lackluster. I'm going to try the Sauvignon Blanc...
