Bobby Boyd was a Negro League All-Star who debuted in MLB at the age of 31. In 11 seasons, he averaged .298 and went on to the Rapid Transit Dreamliners, who won the NBC World Series three times in four years. In 1965, Boyd was NBC WS MVP, hitting .423. ksbaseballhof.com

July 21, 1908 Pro golfer Harold “Jug” McSpaden is born in Monticello, KS Received his PGA membership in 1926 and earned 17 PGA Tour wins over his career Took second 13 times in 1945 alone McSpaden died in 1996 He was inducted posthumously into the @kshof in 2023
