I cover the Chargers for ESPN. Philly made.
1v1 drills favor the receiver, but for whatever it’s worth, rookie KeAndre Lambert Smith looked really good. He had a leaping catch down the sideline over the outstretched arms of CB Deane Leonard that drew applause from fans here.

Derwin James on Philip Rivers retiring as a Charger: “I love Phil … all the times I thought he was saying curse words but he wasn’t.”

Practice ended - Rookie CB Trikweze Bridges had a good day. He picked off Justin Herbert, video below, and had another impressive PBU later in the day - KeAndre Lambert-Smith impressed in 1v1s - Khalil Mack was disruptive w multiple sacks
Nyheim Hines in No. 31 catching a deep ball. My bad on the bad videoing at the end here

Jim Harbaugh said Najee Harris is healing and doing everything he can to get back on the field. Harbaugh said he doesn’t know if Harris will be back for training camp

Jim Harbaugh said that Rashawn Slater is working through a “minor” injury, but didn’t give a timeline for when he’d return. Harbaugh said RB Raheim Sanders is also dealing with an injury and it could take Sanders about a week to return to practice.

Jim Harbaugh said Mike Williams’ retirement wasn’t expected, but supports Williams decision and wishes him the best. Said he’s confident in the Chargers receiver room, but that the team isn’t closing the door on adding a receiver. “Competitors welcome.”

Jim Harbaugh on being back at the University of San Diego, where he got his first HC job a little over two decades ago: “Incredible. As the busses came down the little hairs on my arm were standing up.”

The Chargers announced they signed running back Nyheim Hines and waived tackle Savion Washington with a failed physical designation.
