Still a hazy view this morning over Charlotte, but the humidity is dropping down. Nice view of the sliver moon rising in the eastern sky this morning too.

Happy Saturday! Our stretch of 100 degree days starts today... A Heat Advisory is in place for most of our area where the heat index will peak between 105-109 degrees. To our east, an Extreme Heat Warning where the heat index will be near 110-112 degrees.
Drink plenty of water if you are heading to the @CharlotteFC match on Saturday night. Gonna be a steam bath out there. #ForTheCrown

Gonna be watching these 100 degree days adding up through the weekend to see if we get close to the record.
We are getting into rare territory with this upcoming heatwave in Charlotte. Right now i'm forecasting 4 days in a row of 100°. We haven't seen that since 1986! Heck, the last time we even just two days in a row of 100° was 10 years ago.
There's very little chance for rain to cool us down today. Most areas will miss out on rain, but can't rule out a small brief downpour late day (best chances are in the mountains.) The very low chance remains heading through the weekend.

The extreme heat we'll have this weekend feels even worse when you factor in the humidity. Heat Advisories are going to likely be in place for most of our area as values could reach close to 110°! Be smart with this kind of heat, it's nothing to mess with.

It's going to remain very hot and muggy for the beginning of 24 Hours of Booty in Myers Park tonight. We'll only settle down to near 80° overnight and it feels more humid as the evening goes on.

We get a little hotter today as the heat index climbs back above 100°. This is just the beginning of a major heatwave going through next week.

Temperatures are on their way up into the weekend and we'll get close to records here in Charlotte 🌡️ Saturday looks like the best chance to at least tie the old record! Remember, it will feel much hotter too when you factor in the humidity.
About that break in the humidity... Sure was nice while it lasted.

The focus this summer has naturally been on our hot afternoon temps, but Charlotte is on a record streak of overnights at or above 70°. Today will make 33 days in a row! We beat the old record from 2016 a few days ago.

Sunday's heat is going to be off the charts in our area. NOAA's heat risk map shows our area in the EXTREME category. This is more than just the "it's summer, it's supposed to be hot" kind of heat. Take breaks with outdoor plans and check in on those without AC.

We have some extreme heat on the way for the metro. This could end up at least being the hottest stretch in Charlotte in 10 years! Could see some records fall too. Our best shot will be on Saturday with a record high of 100° set back in 2005.

We do heat up a little more today with a touch more humidity. Neither the heat nor the humidity will be off the charts today, but it will be this weekend. The longest stretch of extreme heat of the year is coming in this weekend.

Our hot July continues. Here are some fun (or not so fun) facts. We are the 4th hottest July on record through the 22nd. Today will be the 17th day in a row of 90° or hotter with many more ahead. It's the hottest July since 1993. Could end up the hottest on record!

24 Hours of Booty returns this weekend in Myers Park and boy is it going to hot and humid. Little risk for any rain to get in the way, but that also means little hope for a cool down. Hydration is key for riders and spectators.

Enjoy that break in the humidity today, it creeps right back up by the weekend.

We get to enjoy the lower humidity air this afternoon. Sadly, it all comes right back heading into the weekend.
