Qualitative Scholars/Historians: I am starting my first qualitative study that uses archival research. What does your workflow look like? Are there good programs for coding and storing documents
In today's #SCOTUS Seven Co. Infr. Coalition decision, emphasis on deference under State Farm when agencies exercise discretion vs Loper Bright's independent judgment for mere statutory interpretation. Fits neatly with Amy Wildermuth's & my draft article. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…
BREAKING: An 8-0 Supreme Court *limits* the scope of environmental reviews federal agencies must do for projects, saying studying immediate effects is sufficient. #SCOTUS Justice Gorsuch recused. supremecourt.gov/opinions/24pdf…
Always interested to hear what @AJosephOConnell has to say about acting gov't appointments. Here with @jacklgoldsmith, talking about the New Jersey U.S. Attorney kerfuffle. executivefunctions.substack.com/p/anne-joseph-…
Really interesting new work from @RichardMRe @SSRN. (Follow the link.) And congrats on being invited to write the HLR Foreword!
Last fall, the editors of the Harvard Law Review invited me to write the Foreword for this year's Supreme Court issue. My working draft is below, and comments are most welcome. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…
Super interesting paper from David Pozen & @JulianNyarko posted on @SSRN: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…
Here's a very cool paper from David Pozen and @JulianNyarko finding what they call the "Twitter bump" -- a very large uptick in citation counts and journal prestige for law professors who use Twitter. Here's the key figure:
Boosting this because @acusgov does good work!
ACUS is seeking input on how federal agencies can strengthen partnerships with state, local, tribal, and territorial governments on administering programs that matter to you. Have insights or experiences to share? We want to hear from you at buff.ly/3sQinZ2

Very sad news. I didn't know him well, but in addition to enjoying and valuing his scholarship, I will never forget his kindness the year that I taught at Harvard. May he rest in peace, and my condolences to his family.
RIP Dick Fallon. A devastating loss professionally and personally.
Delighted to boost this new paper, just posted @SSRN, from @tphillips and my Minnesota Law colleague @NicholasBednar. A very important issue! Per Nick, it has graphs! Check it out!
🚨Nick Bednar and I have a new article titled Commission Quorums. In light of firings rendering the NLRB and MSPB quorum-less, we review caselaw, common law principles, and the quorum rules of 76 commissions to understand the law of quorums. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…
Many congratulations and best wishes to @Aaron_L_Nielson & @UTexasLaw both! A great hire for a great law school!
But I am thrilled to join @UTexasLaw. The State of Texas more than lives up to the hype and my soon-to-be-new colleagues have welcomed the Nielsons with open arms. I’m excited to start teaching again!
Congratulations to all who contributed to a successful @acusgov plenary, but particuarly to the dedicated staff, who are persevering through challenging times.
The @acusgov #83rdPlenarySession is now adjourned. The event resulted in three Recommendations to #FederalAgencies to improve various #AdLaw and #government processes. A copy of today’s event will be available at acus.gov Thank you for joining us.
For those who follow administrative law developments, the bi-annual @acusgov plenary is now in session -- considering recommendations on agency investigative procedures; consultation with state, local, and tribal governments; and public participation in agency adjudications.
The ACUS #83rdPlenarySession has been called to order by presiding member Ron Cass. Tune in now for Opening Remarks. 🔗 Join our livestream here: buff.ly/dUEW2Lm

Legal Theory Lexicon: Legitimacy, buff.ly/3AfDXtn - This Lexicon entry provides an introduction to the concept of legitimacy.
Worth reading from @jadler1969 @CivitasOutlook, regarding ABA accreditation of law schools, the proposed 12-credit experiential learning requirement in the second and third years, and more.
Whether the ABA sees itself as a cartel today, much of its accreditation behavior aligns with what a self-interested cartel would do. @jadler1969 civitasinstitute.org/research/is-th…
Congratulations & best wishes to the @UofMNLawSchool Class of 2025, & especially to my graduating research assistants, Sam & Hans!!
A 🧵with thoughts about admin law teaching from my textbook co-author @chris_j_walker, with whom I completely agree, reacting to the new @michlawreview piece by @Shalev_Roisman & @OrentaOren commenting our textbook & others approach Loper Bright & other recent cases.
Pictures of a Revolution: Administrative Law in a Time of Change -- super provocative @michlawreview book review by @Shalev_Roisman & @OrentaOren of all of the #adlaw casebook supplements after Loper Bright: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…
