I’m excited to share what I’ve been up to for the past year. Introducing @BedrockRobotics where we are bringing full autonomy to heavy equipment—starting in construction. Construction underpins nearly every industry and is surging in demand—yet we face a 500K worker shortage. The…
Bedrock CEO @bsofman & CTO @kevinmpeterson1 solved some of the hardest problems at @Waymo. Now they’re tackling construction, where vehicles need to efficiently complete extremely complex motions without the guardrails of the road. (5/11)
I got a Manus access code! Short review: We're close to usable AI browser tools, but we're not there yet. They're going to completely change how we shop, and my best guess is they'll do it next year, but they won't do it at their current quality baseline. Long review: Earlier…
Awesome work! One of the challenges with this kind of approach is that RL doesn’t really capture the semantic meaning in the world (be polite around peds, you shouldn’t block fire trucks, etc). @EugeneVinitsky have you put thought into any of these issues?
We've built a simulated driving agent that we trained on 1.6 billion km of driving with no human data. It is SOTA on every planning benchmark we tried. In self-play, it goes 20 years between collisions.
This is absolutely happening
I talked to the CEO of a moderately big tech co who said they'd replaced Figma with Replit. This surprised me because I don't even think of them as being in the same business. But he said Replit is so good at generating apps that they just to straight to prototype now.
Embodied AI will ultimately shape the world we live in - in ways that seem like science fiction today allowing us to build faster and better, drive safely, and ultimately live better lives.
In robotics circles, there's a consensus: we're on the brink of a productivity boom — driven by the American labor shortage and an unprecedented demand for automation. Yet, over 80% of warehouses lack automation, and there are only 141 robots per 10,000 manufacturing employees.…
Love these practical applications of ML and AL that often get drowned out by the current hype in Gen AI
What if I told you that _today_, for less than the cost of one cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee, you could have a 10-day AI-NWP forecast initialized from the GFS(/GDAS) within 10 minutes of the data being posted on NOMADS?

"The advent of autonomous driving technologies is a potentially life-changing development for legions of disabled people, myself included, and represents the zenith of accessibility." ~ @steven_aquino @Forbes forbes.com/sites/stevenaq…
a self-driving car just came to a calm stop as i crossed the road in san francisco, then carried on a moment later. ghost cab. and it suddenly struck me how insane it is we aren’t all constantly talking about this absolutely insane miracle of technology?
It's a weird time for the self-driving industry. A lot of people are convinced that self-driving projects failed and the technology won't be ready for decades. Yet right now there are customers riding around in driverless taxis in the Phoenix area. understandingai.org/p/the-death-of…
Wow. @Airbnb customer service has gone wayyyy down hill. Midnight: arrived and place has water damage from massive snow storm. Mold, water running from fireplace, fan drying soaked carpet :/ Found a hotel, then call center calls at 3 No resolution. Feels like vzw ca 2005.
1/ Some San Franciscans may have already noticed @Waymo cars with empty driver’s seats. Now it’s official: we’ve started fully autonomous operations in SF! blog.waymo.com/2022/03/taking…
This month marks half a year since we launched our Trusted Tester program in SF. I want to take a moment to share how meaningful your feedback has been as we create the future of mobility together. Thank you Trusted Testers and all of our SF neighbors for your continued support.
From Houston to Dallas-Fort Worth, our Waymo Via trucks have made a lot of headway on our journey to fully autonomous operations in Texas. Here, they’re gearing up for their next testing mission.
We’re expanding our #WaymoVia partnership with UPS to support autonomous freight movement with our Class 8 trucks this holiday season. Find out more: blog.waymo.com/2021/11/waymo-…
Lots of interesting data from Los Angeles. To map the city, we use the same vehicles from our autonomous fleet powered by the fifth-generation Waymo Driver. Here’s a behind the scenes view of what the Waymo Driver saw going down Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica.
Pedestrians. Buses. Traffic. One way streets. Each city moves with its own energy and culture. Thank you, LA, for providing our #WaymoDriver the opportunity to learn from you. Angelenos, give us a wave if you see our I-PACEs around town. 👋
