I’ve benefited from Barrett’s work. I’m unsurprised by his shift. Baptist distinctives seldom, if ever, made an appearance in his work. But I’m disappointed in the demonstrated ignorance and sloppiness of his parting swipes against baptists. I share Haykin’s sentiments.

As the co-author of this SBC resolution, and a member of an SBC church who will be reciting the Nicene creed this coming Lord’s Day before participating in the Lord’s Supper, I can assure you that reports of our “rejection” of creeds for “solo scriptura” are demonstrably false.
It is interesting to learn from former Southern Baptist theologians that Southern Baptists are averse to the Nicene Creed, especially since we identified ourselves with it in a resolution just this year.
