As floods have destroyed communities in Texas, I’ve watched my public media colleagues work 12-16 hour days to share lifesaving emergency alerts, craft respectful obituaries honoring victims and connect survivors with resources to rebuild their lives. None of this is "leftist."

A view of the new, low water crossing constructed next to the Big Sandy Creek bridge — just outside Leander’s city limits. The bridge sustained major damage during flooding in the area on July 5th, leaving some people in the neighborhood trapped on one side of the creek for days.

Tonight the West Austin community is remembering Linnie McCown and the many other people who have been impacted by the devastating floods in Kerrville. Linnie was a student here at Casis Elementary. She was 8. The community is holding a prayer gathering and candle vigil.

I’m at 8th and Congress right now after the end of the official No Kings protest at the Texas Capitol for @KUT . Police on bikes and horseback are blocking streets going east toward the JJ Pickle federal building, where protests on Monday escalated and led to arrests
