As floods have destroyed communities in Texas, I’ve watched my public media colleagues work 12-16 hour days to share lifesaving emergency alerts, craft respectful obituaries honoring victims and connect survivors with resources to rebuild their lives. None of this is "leftist."
A view of the new, low water crossing constructed next to the Big Sandy Creek bridge — just outside Leander’s city limits. The bridge sustained major damage during flooding in the area on July 5th, leaving some people in the neighborhood trapped on one side of the creek for days.

Tonight the West Austin community is remembering Linnie McCown and the many other people who have been impacted by the devastating floods in Kerrville. Linnie was a student here at Casis Elementary. She was 8. The community is holding a prayer gathering and candle vigil.
NEW: TX lets out-of-state students buy homes to get in-state tuition. The law has led to an industry of families paying in cash for condos, owning them for 2 years, and selling them to the next out-of-state family. Often, the students never live there: kut.org/education/2025…
