Design Director @shop. Previously @classpass @artsy. Always Katarina never Kat.
Unexpected plus side of shopping from thoughtful brands on @shop is that often packages come with a lovely handwritten note. Nice touch @blackoptical 👌

I quite literally CANNOT wait
Sofia Coppola’s documentary ‘MARC BY SOFIA’ to premiere at the Venice Film Festival. It will tell the story of designer Marc Jacobs.
Love to see someone’s putting in the work to make RN feel native
react-native-screen-transitions v1.1.0 improves on nested scrollables inside gesture driven screens, on android and iOS

PSA: there’s a guy named Soham Parekh (in India) who works at 3-4 startups at the same time. He’s been preying on YC companies and more. Beware. I fired this guy in his first week and told him to stop lying / scamming people. He hasn’t stopped a year later. No more excuses.
Least believable part of the F1 movie is that Abu Dhabi is an interesting race (unless it’s 2021 and Liberty media wants to manufacture some drama and rob Lewis of his 8th…still bitter)
This was an incredibly boss and non-obvious move. Really appreciate the move to open source @dankuntz and wonderful job on the story @spottedinprod @raffichill 👏👏👏
Today Any Distance is going open source. We had the privilege of collaborating with @dankuntz to put together an interactive blog post showcasing some of his favorite moments from the app. spottedinprod.com/blog/any-dista…
Damn...shaders are the truth. Well done 👏
So excited to share one of my white-whale projects: a fully physics-based, holographic foil shader. Each pixel simulates a ray of light diffracting into a rainbow of waves, which add and subtract to create these incredible patterns. Not a single gradient was used here!
I think I’m ready to put “vibe” away. She’s tired, let’s let her rest and come back anew.
A takeaway for young designers from @soleio’s First of Kind interview with @henrymodis is that putting in the "reps" is necessary for good design. An off the shelf process won't always guarantee success; but persistent iteration, failure, and exhaustion of all options might.
Yea yea liquid glass discourse but why is NO ONE talking about how high friction it is to take a screenshot? I do this compulsively…two taps is madness!
Pouring one out for my react native homies who are gonna have to twist themselves into knots to replicate liquid glass
the caterpillar is dissolving and we need to talk about what butterfly we want to be
Yes. I’d go further to say that we’ve developed “TED Talk Blindness”. The keynote, the rhythm at which people talk, it’s too predictable. We are on two consumption spectrums, tik tok or podcast. Why? Because there’s risk, there’s unpredictability. We need to think about creating…
What if TED started with a question instead of an answer? While Google and OpenAI fight over who has the best answers, @perplexity_ai can own the questioning space entirely. I'm dying for them to throw a "curiosity conference," so I wrote about how it could actually work.
We all know this but just doubling down here: Sonos is an objectively terrible product. I change my WiFi password and the whole system falls apart 🤔
🤌
Sure general consumers don’t care about open source models. But that’s not the point “You open your free intelligence app on your little iPhone. Because you say to the world, I don’t care how this stuff works I just don’t want to write emails. What you don’t know is OpenAI had…
Gave a talk at @Shopify a few months ago highlighting seminal design work from the last decade and @jasonyuandesign DEFINITELY made the cut.
MercuryOS by @jasonyuandesign was ahead of its time. Prescient and timestamped!
Period.
Karmic justice in seeing the same people who not so long ago dismissed the arts and humanities now scrambling to rebrand around ‘vibes’ and ‘taste-making.’
