Ok, one more. I was once asked to record a commercial in Spanish. I only took Spanish in high school. It was bad. Like, worse than JLo bad. It’s the hardest I’ve seen @JustChrisSabat laugh. Thank the Gods I was recast, though the commercial did have a brief run.

I was once in a cab in Vegas when the driver called Virgin Hotels. He didn’t believe it was my voice he was hearing until I repeated, “Thank you for calling Virgin Hotels Las Vegas”. He almost drove off the road.

I do this! Several years ago, I decided to use the same spreadsheet from year to year so I can easily look back and compare months/years. Another tip - have a checking account and credit card dedicated to business only. It makes taxes much easier!
If you're doing VO, or any other gig work, make sure you're keeping a spreadsheet. It should have a date, project name, who is responsible for paying you (whether direct or via agent), studio/client name, amount and whether or not you have been paid. I also leave an extra column…
I once had a restaurant chain hire me to voice 2 commercials. They refused to pay me, saying it wasn’t that hard of a gig. I fought for years and finally gave up. The commercials still exist online. But in 25 years, they are the only clients to not pay me.
I was cast on an indie project that thankfully never came to fruit. They were working on merchandise at the time. I am also an artist and showed them some ideas for stickers. They had their artist trace over them without telling me and promoted them without any credit.
