This is an appreciation thread for EuterPen, a multimodal music notation system by @Vincent_Cavez et al. It aims to support the non-linear process of exploration during composition. It's the most sensitive and imaginative academic HCI design work I've seen in quite some time!

Jun and I co-proposed a CHI workshop on HCI systems research in-the-wild. Frankly the 1AC got confused and thought we were arguing for more empirical studies of existing systems. 🤦🏻♂️ We were rejected. If you’d like to see this kind of workshop at a future CHI, let us know.
That's how I co-proposed a workshop for CHI and then got rejected, possibly in conflict by name -- with the existing "in the wild" approach. I do see significant similarities, do not intend to ignore the existing efforts, and am personally eager to learn more.
Anyone at #CHI2025 interested in anime? Come join us at #AnimeSIG researching anime from technical/cultural/industrial perspectives, organized by experts from industry and academia, from anthropology to technical HCI! 🕚11:10, Apr 28 (Mon) 📍2F G217 chci.pages.dev/chi2025anime
