I was going to post a final sketch here on Twitter… but I don’t have the patience. If you want to keep following me—and seeing sketches for #AGU24, #LPSC2025, etc.—I’ve moved over to Bluesky 🦋. Same username. So long, and thanks for all of the science.
Go fund me for former exec Director of @KISS_Caltech:
Many of you know Michele Judd—the former director of the Keck Institute for Space Studies (@KISS_Caltech). She’s supported studies that have changed planetary science. She & her family lost their home in Altadena this week. Consider donating. gofund.me/0ce9bbd9
Elena & Topher now have a gofundme: gofund.me/153d27e6. Please help if you can. #Altadena #EatonFire @NASAJPL @Caltech
My friends (and amazing planetary scientists / geologists) Elena & Topher Amador-French lost their home last night in the Eaton Fire. They had to flee with minutes warning. If you’re able, please donate to them and their family. Venmo: Elena-Amador.
Btw, I’m only here on this hellsite to ask for help for those affected by these fires. Get the hell out of here. 🔵☁️ is so much better, and consuming less social media has been nice.

Last week we welcomed experts from @Caltech, @NASAJPL, and beyond to discuss the potential for digital twins in solar system exploration at @KISS_Caltech! We are already looking forward to the second workshop in May 2025 - learn more on our website:kiss.caltech.edu/programs.html#…
Another round of layoffs at JPL.
NASA's JPL is doing another round of layoffs tomorrow, this time cutting 5% of its workforce, about 325 employees, according to a center-wide email sent today by JPL chief Laurie Leshin - "We need to make one further workforce reduction to meet the available funding for FY'25"
In 2003, a fossil belonging to a mammaliaform was discovered in an ancient lakebed in what's now China. It was an almost complete skeleton the size of a platypus-- a find that complicated the history of mammaliaforms. New video out now! youtu.be/sWGYZDiHoXY
my eldest thinks I’m a hero because I’m in zoom meetings all day (yes he literally drew a zoom meeting) and I will be thinking of that in all my future zoom meetings ❤️

There’s a mini #Tyrannosaurus running around at #2024SVP, fortunately @TomHoltzPaleo and I have it under control (kinda).
We're thrilled that @RPappalardo will be giving a @KISS_Caltech guest lecture on the science of the @EuropaClipper mission! 📅Dec 4th from 4:30pm 🌏Ramo Auditorium, @Caltech 📥Register here: forms.office.com/r/LVdnnm7n3X Full details on the KISS website: kiss.caltech.edu/lectures/2024_…
