The more time I spend on Twitter (which I try to keep to a minimum), the more it seems that genuine engagement is rare—many replies seem rushed, misinterpreted, or just off-topic.
Since people don’t understand what they’re reading or don’t read — there’s a big difference between someone accidentally bumping into you and deliberately approaching you to hit you. HIT is the key word here. Do people who trivialize it approve of it? Guess so and it’s worrying.
Perfect day for tennis, right? On my way to my school now ♪ Just a reminder: stay hydrated, it’s really hot outside. And have a nice weekend!
A "Don't Quit, Ishiba" demonstration is being held in Tokyo. Many of the people posting the "don't quit" hashtag [#石破やめるな] appear to be people on the political left who probably didn't vote for the LDP, but prefer Ishiba to his conservative rivals.
Legacy blue ticks on Twitter held real value. Credibility was earned through meaningful work and genuine contributions, not bought with money. That’s not how you build it. Those legacy ticks represented a trusted mark of authenticity & respect. RIP to my legacy blue tick.

I see lots of US citizens who have experienced Japan’s relative safety, rush to compare everything here to extreme crime rates, poverty, huge medical bills back home. Japan has its issues too, and I recommend separating local ssues — naming them and seeking ways to address tbem.
I miss the legacy ticks. There was a time they meant something…

I realize how poorly people are educated about Japan’s immigration system and its strict vetting procedures before entry and upon entry. It’s not like non-Japanese people come out of bushes, enter Japan and roam the streets.
I am opposed to the unchecked expansion of immigration. I believe Japan now stands at a critical crossroads in its destiny.
Or not. Apparently media reports were erroneous. I have a feeling that this may have come up during discussions. Why would Mainichi and Yomiuri spread rumors, right? For those who haven’t seen updates, Ishiba said brushed the rumors off, he’s not going anywhere.

When Japan passed its LGBT Understanding Promotion Act in 2023, five hard-right members of the ruling LDP opposed it. Sankei notes that four of those five have since lost their seats in Japan's Diet. (The remaining member's seat wasn't up for election.)
The casual racism of Japan’s #Sanseito party isn’t heart-warming—but their push to revive 1925 “Peace Preservation Laws”: downright bone-chilling If you think it's just about good-old fashioned nationalism, you're not paying attention @UnseenJapanSite substack.com/home/post/p-16…
A 19yo French man who attempted to "bullet climb" Mt. Fuji (climbing overnight w/o resting) had to be rescued. Shizuoka Prefecture requires overnight Fuji climbers to rent huts; the man & his brother booked one, but broke the rules with a 10pm night climb.
