Federal Leader of @Our_DA and Minister of Agriculture in the Republic of South Africa 🇿🇦
During the SONA debate, in the Oval Office and to farmers on night patrol. I reaffirmed our pledge to work with the justice and security cluster to devise a plan to combat farm attacks. These gruesome acts must be declared a priority crime. Farmers are the lifeline of our nation.
I want to commend the Delmas Valke and AfriForum for their contributions to fighting stock theft, a crime that affects farmers across the South Africa. These collaborative efforts are invaluable in keeping our farmers able to continue their work.

In my recent piece published by Business Day, I write about the youth’s involvement in the future of agriculture. A generation that is not afraid of technology, but ready to harness it. A generation that sees farming as a first choice. businesslive.co.za/bd/opinion/202…
The DA will support the 2025/26 Appropriation Bill following the President’s decision to dismiss Minister Nkabane after sustained DA pressure. Pressure from the DA in the GNU is yielding results, and the DA will continue to lead the fight against corruption.
Opening today’s Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) Indaba, a crucial gathering at a time when South Africa's livestock industry is under immense pressure, I outlined our new approach to tackle FMD across South Africa.
I had a fruitful and cooperative meeting with Minister Sun Meijun and Deputy Minister Zhao Zenglian from the General Administration of Chinese Customs (GACC) discussing the market expansion of our stone fruits, including plums, peaches, nectarines, apricots and prunes. 🇿🇦🇨🇳

Was great to spend some time last week visiting shearing sheds in the Eastern Cape. The RSA mohair sector is an important growth industry for the entire value chain, it supports farmers, shearers, processors and producers of garments. The luxury fibres are highly sought after…

The President has taken a step, but not the leap that this moment demands. If he truly wants to root out criminal syndicates from the state, he must start with his own Cabinet. South Africans deserve action, not more commissions.
Following extensive engagements between South African veterinary authorities and those of Brazil, the import restrictions on live poultry and poultry products from Brazil have been lifted with effect from 4 July 2025. 🇿🇦🇧🇷

Under DA leadership, Bergrivier has consistently ranked as one of the best-run municipalities in the country. Our call to the residents of Ward 6 is to back the DA to continue delivering clean governance and reliable services. 🇿🇦
The DA is in Bergrivier ahead of the Ward 6 by-election to campaign for our candidate Rhime Laubscher. Hou by die blou! 💙

It was a privilege to present the 2025/26 Budget Vote for the Department of Agriculture. Grounded in 7 strategic priorities, which include improving market access, food security and strengthening biosecurity. Building a food system that leaves no South African behind.
Good morning, South Africa. President Mbeki’s open letter to me confirms that the National Dialogue is a creature of the ANC that has been sprung upon the public with the disingenuous claim that it is an 'inclusive' process. Read my full response below.

I am pleased to announce that we have decided to lift the foot-and-mouth disease management areas (DMA) in the Eastern Cape and Limpopo after intensified efforts by the Veterinary Services were successful in containing the spread of FMD in the two provinces. 🇿🇦

I am pleased to announce that, in the coming days, South Africa will embark on its first-ever vaccination of poultry as a proactive measure to minimise the risk of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) outbreaks.

As long as ANC Members of the Executive implicated in corruption, misleading of Parliament, and other acts of malfeasance remain around the Cabinet table, the DA will not support their departmental budgets in Parliament, and will not participate in the National Dialogue.

The DA calls on the President to fire Ministers Simelane, Nkabane, and Ministers or Deputy Ministers implicated in corruption within the next 48 hours. If they fail to do so, the ANC will inflict grave consequences on South Africa.
I answered questions in Parliament today relating to measures the Department of Agriculture has put in place to capacitate provincial and local governments to implement agricultural technology and infrastructure programmes efficiently and to coordinate national strategies.
To mark the DA’s 25th anniversary, we handed over blankets to the residents of Hanover Cottages as part of a nationwide winter community outreach initiative. Sharing the DA warmth across South Africa.💙🇿🇦
