What an amazing first day at Harvington History Festival 2025! 🎉 Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday! @hrcastor @anniegarthwaite @NicolaTallis @NathenAmin @jpwarchaeology
Yesterday's haul. Pretty sure that I spent more money than I'll receive in royalties from my own festival book sales...

As someone who is self-employed and essentially works alone, it sure was good to hang about with a bunch of other heritage professionals yesterday @HallHarvington Thanks to my colleagues, to Phil, James & the festival volunteers, and of course everyone who came and had a chat!

What a brilliant first day back hosting @HallHarvington History Festival! So lovely to share a stage with @hrcastor @anniegarthwaite @NicolaTallis @NathenAmin @jpwarchaeology & hear their brilliant talks AND meet Little Humph @HarvingtonCats
The festival Green Room has original nudey early modern paintings 🍑

I appreciate a urinal with a view of some timber-framing.

Full room for Annie Garthwaite and Nicola Tallis talking about Mothers-in-War: the women about the Wars of the Roses @HallHarvington

Really enjoyed Helen Castor talking about her book on Richard II and Henry IV @HallHarvington I don't much like any mediaeval monarch but do have a grudging admiration for how cultured Henry IV was. Richard II though...

Waiting for my coffee at The Malt House cafe @HallHarvington and spotted this group of apotropaic burn marks on the timber frame. Entirely apt as I'll be talking about burn marks at the house later today. More here: …iskeleheritage.triskelepublishing.com/mediaeval-myth…

Didn't have time to get over to Black Sabbath Bridge. Did spend a moment with Ozzy at New Street whilst listening to Iron Man.

The penultimate Mythbusting trip. Gig #109. Off to @HallHarvington History Festival.

It sure is sad to hear about the loss of The Prince of Darkness. The most surprising element of his story is that he lasted fully 76 years on this planet and survived* the 1980s. * As much as anyone could do.
Went out to buy one book. Came home with two. As is traditional.

Really enjoyed listening to @HelenhCarr talking to @Herring1967 about her new book on the 14th century. Anytime I'm asked where I would go in a time machine my answer is: "Not the 14th century!" A terrifying and brutal age, although it did produce the Gawain poet & Chaucer.
