The theory at the center of what Joel says here is spot-the-heck-on. The most important scouting—especially right now—is the work done making absolutely certain you know your prospects inside and out. The teams who employ and trust talented evaluators are at a clear advantage.

#Royals RHP Kendry Chourio so far in the ACL: 11 IP, 12 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 17 Ks. Please get familiar with this young man. He’s got the goods.
Blue Jays prospect Juan Sanchez fell a single shy of the cycle tonight in the DSL. Check out the triple and the home run, with the latter in beautiful slow motion.
In my second DSL game of the day, Blue Jays prospect Juan Sanchez has a triple and a homer. We’ve played two innings.
Giants No. 2 prospect and current Top 100 member Josuar Gonzalez had two hits today, including this triple in his final at-bat. Exit velocity of 101 mph and he *flew* around the bases. Behold, a swing of beauty.
The ACL Giants punched their ticket to the Arizona Complex League playoffs after clinching the East division title. Very talented team (40-18 record best record in complex leagues) led by Argenis Cayama, Keyner Martinez, Dario Reynoso and Jhonny Level.
Re-uploading to correct a name. The DSL #Cardinals' starter on Friday was Xavier Cruz. He's young, projectable and has a live arm. Check him out (again).
Also from this game, #Mets prospect Yeider Mindiola absolutely obliterated a pitch for a game-tying home run. How obliterated, exactly? TrackMan had the blast at *114 mph* off the bat, and the sound off the bat made it hard to argue otherwise.
I've been to the DSL, ACL and FCL this year. My favorite parts of these trips is finding new, interesting prospects.. #Mets shortstop Yunior Amparo is one such player. Took competitive ABs. Made loud contact. Easy arm strength. Pretty quick runner, too. Take a look.
Got to the game today way too early and started noodling around with the slow-mo camera. Turns out, water being sprayed looks pretty cool with this thing.
The DSL #Mets scored a comeback win over the Angels this afternoon. Who cashed in the go-ahead run? Elian Peña. Check it out.

The only player with two extra-base hits in the DSL ASG? That would be #Athletics prospect Edgar Montero, who doubled in his only two at-bats.
For years, I thought Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones were the same thing.
The Dodgers have driven me to do something I've never done The gf has been asking for years, so finally going to watch all of the Lord of the Rings movies (have no idea what they're about) Apparently there are extended versions and the first is 3 HOURS 49 MIN??? Wish me luck
There's never really a good time for your 'S' key to be stubborn, but writing about the DSL is especially suboptimal.
Correction! Both homers on Sunday were the first in the careers of the players who hit them. #Padres 1B Abraham Bastidas hit a no-doubt grand slam in the first to give the NL squad a huge early edge.
For the second straight year, a player in the DSL All-Star Game has scored his first pro home run. Last year, it was Luis Peña. This year, it's Boston's Franklin Primera, who was added to the roster when Dorian Soto was removed. Check it out.

DSL All-Star Game 2025 is in the books. One of my favorite events of the year, on par with the Arizona Fall League. If you know me, you know my favorite part of this job is finding talent while it's starting to blossom. The complex leagues are where it all happens.
Last year’s DSL ASG superlatives article. Giving Luis Peña best power was easy. Pretty proud of being in on Reinold Navarro early though. baseballamerica.com/stories/2024-d…
Here’s a little something. Unfortunately, one of the best prospects on the initial rosters — Dorian Soto — was pulled out. x.com/GeoffPontesBA/…
Hey Josh - longtime subscriber here. Do you guys have anything that I could read that would point me to the top-tier players in this game?
