I don't really care that they didn't cite my dinky MDPI Entropy paper - but the fact that Williams and Beer got relegated to a single citation in the Discussion (No. 114) really bugs me. What they are doing is clearly a PID. They even use the same terms. Come on, guys.
I'm in agreement with @ThosVarley (despite being cited 3 times here 🤣), that this sidelines the body of work in information decomposition when it's clearly re-presenting it, and getting into nature comms at that, is just astounding.
I don't normally like to call-out fellow scientists on social media, but I can't help but feel like the authors of this piece inexplicably glossed over a huge amount of prior work in this space...work that, if engaged with, would have made this a stronger idea!
📢 It's that time of the year again! The School of Computer Science at @Sydney_Uni is hiring, with multiple tenure-track positions. All areas of CS welcome, with a specific focus on Systems, PL, ML, and Quantum Computing (link next tweet) Please share, retweet, and get in touch!
