Jin Zhang Lab
@jinzhanglab
We are a lab of diverse scientists developing genetically encoded biosensors for studying cell signaling at UC San Diego
Congratulations to Ryan Weeks on defending his thesis! 🎉🥳 Ryan has led the way in developing Ras biosensors in the lab, with more to come! We celebrated with cake, champagne, and the very first Zhang Lab sweater. 💡 Congratulations again, Dr. Weeks!🥳🎉

Congratulations to Dr Emily Pool, who defended her thesis last week! She’s been an incredible asset to the lab, from her precision, to her mentorship, to her work on phase separation of PKA regulatory subunits. We’re so excited to see what she does next! Congrats, Dr. Pool!

Congratulations to graduate student Rosie Zhou, who won the Shu and KC Chien Best Poster in Bioengineering award at the annual Jacobs School of Engineering Research Expo for her poster “Visualizing Protein Communication in Human Cells to Improve Cancer Treatment” @UCSDJacobs

Yingqi will be receiving support from the Tobacco Related Disease Research Program (TRDRP) for her project on spatiotemporal cGAMP signaling in tobacco-induced non-small cell lung cancer metastasis. Congrats to them both!
Save the date for the next @VUBasicSciences Apex Lecture with @jinzhanglab @UCSanDiego: “Illuminating the Biochemical Activity Architecture of the Cell” Tuesday, April 17, 3:00 pm, 1220 MRB III A reception will follow!
Last week we celebrated 3 lab birthdays! Happy birthday to grad students Qian and Pal, and Project Scientist Skott! #DragonKnife

On Friday we had our lab farewell party for postdoc @chrisqs5 , with lunch, cake, and lab sweater and mug! #DragonKnife Qi is moving on to a position in Dr. Diane Simeone’s lab at Moores Cancer Center. We’ve loved working with Qi, and are excited to see what he does next!

Two members of the lab, @ammgest.bsky.social and @anne-lyons-bioe.bsky.social will be at the Biophysical Society Meeting #bps2025 02/15 -02/19! Check out their posters on 02/18 from 1:45 to 2:45!
