This courthouse also has delicious toffee cookies in their lunchroom! (Once upon a time I spent many weeks there covering the DOJ's ill-fated attempt to prosecute @rogerclemens many, many moons ago.) theverge.com/policy/690440/…
NYS now has the ability to temporarily suspend the license of a teacher accused of sexually abusing students, effectively keeping them out of any classroom while their case plays out.
The 17-person board unanimously approved the change at their meeting in Albany. It will go into effect this month. nwsdy.li/3Sql9ny
You'll hear a lot about David Wright this week. Here's one. In '08, before a pennant race game, he accompanied family members of 9/11 victims to firehouse by WTC. I went, too. A boy, too young to know the dad he lost, asked Wright to have a catch right there. They did. Mom cried.

If MLB doesn't want fans potentially involved in these plays, here's an idea. Make the fences taller.
From @TheAthletic: The Arizona Diamondbacks banned a fan who has turned home-run catching into a sport and who was the subject of a viral video Monday night. One major-league player has jokingly referred to him as the “Home Run Thief.” nyti.ms/4kmbSsj

A math teacher sent sexually explicit messages to a former student. A science teacher texted her male high school students that they were “destined” to meet. And an art teacher allegedly told a student that systemic racism didn’t exist and that “Sicilians are also a minority.”…
The irony of this tweet isn’t lost on me 🤣
Spoke to a high-level NFL executive today about the draft and came away with a lot of respect for this one thing he said: “The anonymous negative quotes that pop up every year? Total garbage. If you’ve got something to say, put your name on it or keep it in-house. Every team has…

Strong story by @kate_selig about a terminally ill Stanford medical professor teaching a class about his terminal illness really is about time--an asset we all have--and the freedom and ability to choose how we spend it. nytimes.com/2025/02/26/us/…
Long Island school districts employed hundreds of retired educators last school year, a Newsday exclusive investigation found, including 46 who grossed more than $200,000 in combined salary and pension payments and seven who eclipsed $400,000. buff.ly/4i88SQm
I’m a SJU freshman in ‘96, learned Carnesecca had an office on campus, found it & amazingly he invited me in. We talked about nothing for what felt like hours, I kept visiting, & he reacted every time as if I was a long lost friend. What a gift he had to make you feel special.
One of the true giants of the game. A great coach and an even better person. Godspeed.
Thorough reporting of the allegations here with @jimbaumbach newsday.com/long-island/in…
The district had previously settled 5 Child Victims Act cases involving teacher Thomas Bernagozzi for $20 million. Two cases were settled by insurance. Thirty-seven more CVA claims are still pending.
Bay Shore Schools was found 100% liable of negligence and acting with reckless disregard for retaining a third-grade teacher accused of sexually abusing dozens of students. Damages will be determined tomorrow. newsday.com/long-island/ed…
Watching Knicks opener last night reminded me of riding the subway with @MettaWorld37 from Queensbridge to MSG for his first Knicks home game. (I heard a rumor he was doing this, so I showed in Queensbridge on a whim and waited hours. Paid off.) Story-> newsday.com/sports/basketb…
