Congratulations @RichardSSutton! You've given RL yet another place in the history books. I can't imagine how you're feeling right now, but it must be amazing to reflect on how far the ideas have come, especially after all the care and dedication you gave them. I'm truly inspired.
Meet the recipients of the 2024 ACM A.M. Turing Award, Andrew G. Barto and Richard S. Sutton! They are recognized for developing the conceptual and algorithmic foundations of reinforcement learning. Please join us in congratulating the two recipients! bit.ly/4hpdsbD
I’ll be at @Caltech and @NASAJPL this week. I’m giving a talk on AI for the Mind—the quest ever thus! Reach out if you want to discuss how AI helps us understand the mind, or other topics like RL, naturalistic forms of computation, Openmind, or the Tour de France! 🚵
E66: Satinder Singh: The Origin Story of RLDM @ RLDM 2025 Professor Satinder Singh of @GoogleDeepMind and @UMich is co-founder of @RLDMDublin2025. Here he narrates the origin story of the Reinforcement Learning and Decision Making meeting (not conference).
Great example of empirical AI research done by the folks at Keen. Observe the screen and learn to control the joystick.
The demo we are showing is an RL agent on a laptop playing an unmodified Atari with a robotic controller moving the joystick and a camera looking at the screen.
🖼️Reminder!! Finding the Frame will be held on August 5 at @RL_Conference at @UAlberta! See you in Edmonton 📰Submit here: openreview.net/group?id=rl-co… ⌛️Deadline: May 30 🔗More info: sites.google.com/view/findingth…
After last year's success, Finding the Frame is back at #RLC2025 🚀! Do you want to rethink the conceptual foundations of RL? Define new problems, challenge assumptions, or test the limits of RL paradigms? Join us! Submit by: 30th May 2025, AoE Guidelines: sites.google.com/view/findingth…
Excited to be co-organizing a new workshop @RLDMDublin2025! Our theme centers on RL, the Mind, and the philosophy of science. We're accepting short papers that reflect on RL as an explanatory theory of mental phenomena, which are ostensibly observable; see the CfP for details!
🚀 Join us at Saving the Phenomena of Minds – @RLDMDublin2025 Workshop! 🚀 We’ll examine how reinforcement learning theories capture and explain mental phenomena. 📝 Now Accepting Submissions 📅 Deadline: April 18, 2025 🔗 More details: sites.google.com/view/phenomena…
In the workshop, we asked panelists: "Can you share a paper or book that changed the way you framed AI problems or has otherwise heavily influenced you as a scientist?" 💡Check out panelist recommendations here!💡 sites.google.com/view/findingth…
We love this community ❤️ So great to see so many people excited about Finding the Frame!
Massive turnout for our speakers at the @RLFrameWorkshop! Many people excited about the conceptual foundations of RL. Be sure to check out our panel discussion at 10:40 AM at Room 168. #RLC2024
Finding the Frame workshop is coming up on Aug. 9 at #RLC2024! 🚀Let's rethink the conceptual foundations of RL! We'll have amazing panelists: Leslie Kaelbling, Anna Harutyunyan, Dylan Hadfield-Menell, and Joseph Modayil. 💡What questions would you like us to ask our panelists?
✨Announcing an amazing lineup of speakers for our @RL_Conference workshop! Along with their talks, speakers will participate in a panel to discuss the conceptual foundations of RL. Submit and share your perspective too!✨ sites.google.com/view/findingth…
Reinforcement learning often studies agents that solve a task, then stop learning. In contrast, continual RL focuses on agents that never stop learning. But what does "never stop learning" mean? 🤔 Excited to share our #NeurIPS2023 paper on this! david-abel.github.io/crl.pdf 🧵
Thrilled to announce the first annual Reinforcement Learning Conference @RL_Conference, which will be held at UMass Amherst August 9-12! RLC is the first strongly peer-reviewed RL venue with proceedings, and our call for papers is now available: rl-conference.cc.
Today at #ICML2023, I'll be presenting our work on Settling the Reward Hypothesis. proceedings.mlr.press/v202/bowling23… Come by our poster and attend the oral presentation to learn about when goals can be expressed as Markov rewards! Together with @MichaelHBowling, @dabelcs, @wwdabney
On the way to Honolulu for #ICML2023! I’ll be around all week, so reach out if you’d like to chat about research or ride bikes 🚴
On the way to Edmonton for #Upperbound @AmiiThinks! I’ll be around all week, so reach out if you’d like to chat. Tomorrow I’ll be presenting a poster of our recent work on Settling the Reward Hypothesis. Link: arxiv.org/abs/2212.10420
