There’s a boomlet of national news stories eg @nytimes about a) boys falling behind girls in school b) young men dropping out of life and c) kids need male role models. Decades of toxic policy and politics have metastasized, and it’s a social crisis we need to urgently address.
For anyone who thinks today’s markets are just normal, I remind you that the market cap of Fartcoin is still $1.4B.
Hey @elonmusk how about funding an orbiter to Pluto? The Musk Pluto Orbiter could be your great philanthropic endeavor. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/pla…
I remember seeing @IronAndWine @RadioCity about 10 years ago and he closed with "Flightless Bird, American Mouth" and some guy right behind me was singing it loudly ... just selfish, and totally ruined it.
Went to a VERY EXPENSIVE karaoke session last night. It was called ‘Oasis live at Wembley’. The audience knew all the words and sang along to every tune while the backing band on stage supplied thé rhythm tracks. Interesting how someone else’s show becomes a show about you.
Good fucking luck with that.

Anca and I were grateful and touched to receive the highest blessing today, from His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV on the 56th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. What an honor! We prayed for good health, long life, and prosperity for all humankind. #PopeLeoXIV

The timing and optics are terrible, but Stephen Colbert’s show costs more than $100M a year to produce and is losing more than $40M a year. CBS execs had been mulling for a long time whether to pull the plug. Details ⬇️⬇️ puck.news/was-colberts-c…
Parenthood is elemental across the animal kingdom. We have a bird's nest under our deck. Watched in wonder each day as momma bird brought food back to her babies. Then a squirrel ate the babies. But the momma bird still hangs out. Waiting for her babies that will never return.

Less than a week to go for the launch of #Apollo11 – I remember that last week before we lifted off (56 years ago) was a busy one with final preparation and testing. Training flights in helicopters, T-38s, and the parabolic aircraft, to time in the Lunar and Command Module…

Fascinating @tylercowen podcast, in which you’ll learn that @taylorswift13 wasn’t the first to change / re-record original work due to ownership / financial issues. Stravinsky did it way back when with Firebird! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/con…

“Please, my fellow Americans, look around the world and thank your lucky stars. Every day I wake up and I kiss the ground, because I don’t take it for granted. Because my life is so much better than my parents were in India.” —Yale Law professor Akhil Reed Amar
It REALLY hard to use concrete beautifully. Louis Kahn did it the best, and Paul Rudolph has a few nice ones, but by and large it’s a mediocre material for design, meant for important but unassuming roles and not meant to be celebrated.

If a band you really like is playing within one hour of your home, you should go. Even if it's a Tuesday night. Take the next day off or do whatever you need to do. Just go. Don't make excuses. Life is short!
Rent control is the second-best way to destroy a city, after bombing. And, because of what it leads to in terms of under investment in repairing, maintaining, constructing new apartments, I think this is likely to exacerbate rather than improve issues around housing affordability…
