If you cook regularly, your pantry and spices will get stocked fairly quickly and last you a good while. Even if you do different cuisines, many of them heavily overlap in that regard.
Note our mothers typically stuck to one or two cuisine groups. That means cooking from same set of spices, sauces, etc. If you’re trying to cook Korean one day, Indian the next, you are not optimising, as you’re buying for a new range of taste on a regular basis. This adds up.
