Last October the WIRE published a 6 page "primer" looking at around 25 of my releases from 1984 to now. I'm grateful to Seymour Wright who took on the listening and writing challenge. I've just made it available as a free download here: johnbutcher.org.uk/downloads/Wire…

It's a slightly unsettling feeling to see 40 years of music laid out like this. But I greatly appreciate Seymour Wright writing about these records in the new Wire. And special thanks to the many remarkable musicians I was fortunate to collaborate with. thewire.co.uk/issues/488

Sunday afternoon (28/4) at @hundredyearsgal with @jbernieb - Ecka Mordecai - @johnmacedo_ trio + @ReganBowering solo
I enjoyed the wonderfully bracing and restless exchanges between John Butcher and Rhodri Davies at Kettle's Yard in Cambridge last night, with my particular highlight being the skirling tenor saxophone dirge pitched against a tolling harp note in the second set.
