Merseyside Police are appealing for information after a woman was hit by a car and suffered serious injuries on a major city centre road liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool…
The Strand has now fully reopened and the police have now left the scene. We’ll be bringing you more updates on this incident as soon as we get them

Many walking past the scene were still unaware of what’s going on. One man said:”Oh wow, that’s awful. This junction can be like the Wild West.” Another added: “Finger’s crossed she’s alright.”
The two female guests have had quite a day. They told me they were woken up at 4.45am this morning by an alarm and could hear a man shouting. They believe it’s unrelated to the collision.
Several police officers have just been seen inspecting a vehicle in the hotel car park before heading back into the Crowne Plaza. Two guests staying at the hotel told me the car was parked up in a different position earlier before being moved by the police.

Chapel Street and all lanes on The Strand heading to Leeds Street have now reopened. It is still down to one lane on The Strand heading towards the Baltic

An ambulance and the fire engine have now left the scene. 5 police cars and numerous officers remain along with an ambulance car

A man walking past the car park told me: “I just saw the police using it. They were speaking to someone outside the hotel now. Finger’s crossed the woman’s okay. This road is mad at the best of times.”
A few minutes ago, officers could be seen using some sort of measuring tape in the car park

Police inquires are continuing at the hotel. It looks like officers are speaking to staff members and/or guests

The Crowne Plaza Hotel is still open but police officers have been seen entering and exiting the building
The ECHO have also contacted Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service for information about the incident.
The area is busy with many office workers and tourists. Upon seeing the woman receiving treatment, a woman said: “That’s so sad. I just hope she’s okay.”

A Merseyside Police spokesperson told the ECHO: "A female pedestrian has been involved in a collision with a car on Chapel Street and emergency services are currently at the scene. The incident was reported at 12.35pm this afternoon."
Traffic is building on The Strand. The road is down to one lane heading south towards the Baltic/Dingle and three lanes heading north towards Leeds Street and Scotland Road.

The top of Chapel Street where it meets The Strand has been closed to traffic. It is still open to pedestrians
