hey does anyone know what's supposed to go in the gaping void??? i've tried art and music and friendship and regular career and artistic career and romance and drinking but they don't quite fit
I’m so glad young people will be age checked when they next log in to anorexia .com or scroll purgenet for tips 🙄 Eating disorders content is all over social media, not just specific sites. We must do more about this as well as the general normalisation of disordered eating
BREAKING NEWS Cardiff Council confirms that there was no lawful permission for Blackweir Live to have taken place in Grade 1 Listed Bute Park In giving this project his personal backing, Council Leader Huw Thomas should now consider his position
very pleased to have worked on this!

in my experience, many peer reviewers do not have the expertise to review lived experience-led work
Just had a peer reviewer on a lived experience led paper about psych medication tell us to include what meds the lead authors are on. For Reflexivity.
A diagnosis should never depend on appearance alone. Too many with hEDS or HSD are told they “look fine” while silently battling daily pain, fatigue, and dysfunction. Let’s advocate for care that listens—not looks.
Academic journals may say they welcome the expertise of people with lived experience, but if their default expectation is for them to have institutional affiliations and the ability to pay article processing charges, this is not welcoming. It is exclusion.
fantastic initiative
Big announcement Just over 9 months ago I left WalesOnline to start this newsletter looking in depth at Welsh politics and Welsh issues. The response to this has exceeded my wildest dreams and I have a really exciting announcement - an Investigative Journalism Fund. [Thread]
Our new paper, which agrees on a set of biopsychosocial outcome measures for routine collection in UK eating disorder services, is out today! I enjoyed working on the thematic analysis of this. Please take a look mentalhealth.bmj.com/content/28/1/e…

If we think of the etymology of "discharge" - to unburden or unload the cart - who is served by discharging patients who are at risk? Is it the patients, unburdened from their illness via effective treatment? No. So, who is having their cart unloaded?
How revealing - the Royal College of Psychiatrists' most popular CPD module is about "discharging risky patients". In my work I've seen a desire to give up responsibility for patients with very real clinical needs. More than this - a wish to do so with a blessing.
Spot on. And not just the Beeb - @Nigel_Farage gets a very easy ride because he is treated as fellow commentator and fellow mainstream media critic of main parties. Never gets challenged on his Brexit role. Rarely on actual policy. Well said @EdwardJDavey
Watch @EdwardJDavey call out the BBC for their failure to hold Nigel Farage to account.
Academic journals make an absolute fortune but OMG is the admin for most of them appalling (in my experience)
Playing around with brain simulation for anorexia is all well and good. But its not great for research proposals for novel treatments to justify themselves by saying existing treatments are inadequate without mentioning the landscape of clinical neglect in which they’re delivered
Agree with so much of what @jamesldowns has said here. Do we need novel treatments for anorexia nervosa? A patient perspective | The British Journal of Psychiatry | Cambridge Core cambridge.org/core/journals/…

“Restrictive intake self-harming behaviour“ 🤷🏻♀️ Concerning to see another example of unevidenced diagnosis taken to the Court of Protection. Aged 17. Girl of course.
