Big news today: Mergent has been acquired by @resend! Here’s the story and what’s next 🧵
on plane WiFi dropping a database shard that we no longer need, what could go wrong?
noticeable shift away from serverless happening a good chunk of my time has been helping Mergent customers migrate to alternatives, which is frequently managing their own workers + Redis seems like control and predictability are winning out, can't argue with that
Dia's privacy policy page is really well-designed (I never thought I'd say that about a privacy policy, but it's well-designed & human readable) ...a privacy policy page! I can't get over it. Check it out. diabrowser.com/privacy @diabrowser
I’m okay losing, if there’s a way I can get better and not lose in the future I will be prepared next time. I’ll accept losses if they were unpreventable in retrospect I’m not okay with knowing why I lost and not doing something about it That is what it takes to be a winner.

There's a time to be smart, and a time to be dumb. Be smart when life gives you space. But when you need to grind, be dumb and don’t overthink — just do what you know you can handle, and keep doing it, again and again. "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time."

banana is peak food engineering. - comes in its own wrapper. 100% portable. zero mess. - zero prep, zero cleanup - instant energy - high potassium - cheap name one bad thing about it. you can't. banana wins. pack it up.
on choosing a database:
diluting substance with hype will only work In the short-term if these trendy DB companies can't grow into it; the market will sort it out I'd rather my database be robust than sexy. I don't want to think about my database more than I have to. - will it lose my customers' data?…

same! I miss that era
I feel fortunate that I moved to San Francisco 15 years ago and caught the very tail end of tech being weird and a bit nerdy. Every startup in 2010 still had a few developers with ponytails, desks covered with hand-painted Dragon Quest figurines, a CTO who did 80 hours of…
if I'm doing something, I'm all-in; balance is for gymnasts
An obvious truth that most people forget: Partial effort, leads to partial results. If you want the outcomes that you see in people who have done big things - it will take *all* of your efforts. From Kobe Bryant to Steve Jobs.. Intense & focused effort is required.
