Initially Capt PL Kher went to recce at Rezang La, then Maj VP Bhasin and Lt G Kotwal went to establish a section post of 1/8 Gorkha Rifles. After a few months a platoon of 7 J&K Militia replaced the section and in November C Coy of 13 Kumaon took charge of the post.
3/ HBR says initially Rezangla was a section post. In Nov 62 it was already a Company Post. Its location on the right flank of our defences (PLA's left flank) had a lot of potential in a counter attack. Arty commander hs confirmed to @jai_samota arty support ws possible @rwac48

The veteran in the photo is Hony Capt Ram Chander who was the radio operator of Major Shaitan Singh, PVC & in the pic I attached is Hony Capt Ram Chander, VrC, a platoon commander in C Company of 13 Kumaon and was taken as PoW by the Chinese in 1962. He passed away in April 2021.
